Rainbowguy - So, you are saying good things come out of colon:)
Levent! I was hoping you would chime in. Thank you so much. I am going to be with you at the Magic at the Beach. Very excited. You are the entertainer that I am most excited to meet. I hope you do the Multiplying Balls and the Miser's Dream over the course of the weekend. So, bigger would work. They would be very big! If I made the gimmick with elastic, it wouldn't need to be much larger. What do you think about the elastic flash fours, verses the traditional gimmick. Have you seen a flash four with elastic? Any thoughts about that? |

The elastic flash four might be harder to steal smoothly. I would make up a proto type and see if you can steal it smoothly.
Use inexpensive balls. Just thinking out loud... A rigid holder might make up for the balls being loose. Best of both worlds? Chris |

Depending on the angles it might not be necessary for the gimmick to go completely into the hollow ball. If possible bring the balls and hollow ball(without the pail) to Myrtle Beach and I will take a look at it. Levent at the Airport http://www.LeventMagic.com

Would it be possible to make a flash four that is hinges in the middle so that when ditching it would take up only 50% of the standard flash four? It might be possible to make a hinge that keeps the flash four in "normal" position until being placed into the receptacle. This could be facilitated by making a flash four on the principle of the Vernet flash four. It would mean buying extra sh**** from whatever manufacturer makes the balls, but it might be worth investigating.

Anatole, now you have the solution to this thread! All you need is to buy some new copper wire at the local hardware store. Cut it in half and make a loop on the end of each wire. Insert a rivet through the eyelets formed by the loops. Now you have a hinged fold in half Flash Four.
To insert the through the large ball hole, insert the 1st section then fold onto itself and let it fall into the Finale Ball. This seems to be a very logical answer to this question. |

Great thinking guys. If the Flash Four were half balls, it could fold over on itself and only take up the space of two balls.

I agree with you, the hinge will work with full size balls. But a flash four can be made in a number of ways. One set is on the market that is made with half balls. You could make a flash four out of wooden half balls...

If you only hinge the bottom two balls, the gimmick might function properly and still fit inside the giant ball. Levent http://www.LeventMagic.com

I have a design I created years ago for a climax that uses two shells and two solid balls and hinges in the middle. Message me if you want details.

Tony,
. I know this was mostly about the flash four ditch, but since you posted a video of your routine, may a make a comment or two? 1. I like the structure, I think producing the balls from the hank at the beginning is a neat idea. 2. Pause and allow for a magic moment before you show the large ball. Maybe use flash paper to jazz it up. Just a thought, Matt M.

Thanks Matt - Good advice.
Levent shamed me into getting bigger balls this past weekend and they arrived today, so now I will have to shoot a new video with the larger 2" balls. I'll also experiment with a hinged, or maybe a double hinged design. I love that idea. |

Now that you have your new Italian Balls (Wow does that sound like weird science or what?) which you describe as being hollow with holes in them (Ouch!) can you not do what others in this thread have suggested, that is, run the four "flash four balls" through a wire as shown in the Tim Wright dvd, so that you may drop them individually into you bucket? Would that nor be a simple solution?

Luckysizes - I'm not sure I followed your question. I think the double negatives got me confused. Are you suggesting that I simply do an 8 ball routine and forget the flash four. Therefore, I could drop each ball individually? If that is what you are suggesting - Yes. I think that would work fine also.
I still want to make a flash 4 to match my new set, new size and all. I haven't learned an 8 ball routine yet. That will take some work, but it is a good solution. Thanks for the idea. If I didn't understand you correctly, please feel free to correct me. |

Okay, I realize this isn't the workshop area, but since this was about figuring out how to ditch a final four. Here is my progress. See the picture from a front view... So far it is a flash two.
