BTW, the Sterling Lethal Tender set I purchased arrived and turned out to be a Royal instead. The product page has an image that shows "Sterling Magic" on it. I'm in the process of trying to return it now, but not having much luck so far. Surprising, too, since this is a shop we've all used where I wouldn’t expect this kind of problem.

Irritating, but I have had that happen too.

The first LT I purchased happened to be sterling. Not having a good memory about these things I couldn't remember which version I needed when it came time to replace it. Somehow I ended up with a Royal set that was terrible. The second set I got (can't remember the brand) but the chinese coin was not convincing.
I can't speak for the tango set but I buy sterling sets three at a time. I know the card is odd but I don't use the card or the wallet anyway. I also go on ebay and spend a few bucks on a half dollar that's a perfect match. I saw someone was once making a morgan LT but it disappeared and I never knew if it was legit. |

Another good vanish that I use, is having the shim card in one of the nice leather card cases for packet tricks, ask's them which coin, place it in their hand, flip the lid, and you have the change.

The one I just got is Royal. I saw the sterling one in my local brick and mortar, and didn't like it because of the phoney looking shim. I wish I had read this thread first. I did notice the gimmick didn't look too convincing especially from the side, and it doesn't always pick up clean with the shim. So I guess if this craps out at least I have the Bike shim, and can get the sterling coin. Nobody is yet to answer what a P**t coin is.

Repost from another topic I posted this in:
TCB, it sounds like the one you saw at your store used the original cards of choice. Steve Dusheck originally used cards that were red or green with white wisps (if that makes sense) on them - Kling brand - is this what you saw? I don't think anyone would see them as phoney, personally, as it is just a playing card. Steve decided to use those cards over to Bike backs, or others, and has often stated that there is "a reason for everything" he does. Sterling Magic is the only authorized maker of "Lethal Tender". All others are not unauthorized copies. Also, some copy the trick using a shell, which is a departure (not a good one) from the original.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Yes the Royal one is kinda shoddy. It dropped on the floor, and the little magnet fell off. I had to super glue it back on. Don't know if that's going to last. The one I saw at the magic store. had a green backed miniature shim. I bought the one I saw with Bike back on-line, because I thought it would look more authentic. I wish I knew Steve was getting ripped off by people making knock-offs. I never would have bought the one I did. If anybody has any fresh ideas for presenting lethal tender, I'd love to hear them

I believe that Royal purchased Sterling and now does own the rights to Lethal Tender. Both are still sold but look almost identical. Royal's version now has a post-type gimmick that while not exactly the same as Sterling's is of the same type and is very similar. (BTW, I presently own four versions of LT!)

Ya know guys, I am amazed. Tango can make an unauthorized COPY of Lethal Tender, continues to do so, and nobody says a word. Craig Petty got CRUCIFIED with Red. And the difference is...?

Possibly many reasons it doesn't come up (anymore - maybe it did, years ago, though not with Tango).
I imagine that the principle reason is that Sterling Magic isn't voicing complaints (Steve Dusheck gave LT to Sterling). Another possibility is that the issue is less 'personal' as it is involves companies copying another company. Also, it is 'old news' - others have been copying LT for a long time by now, and we don't hear Sterling saying anything. Also, the copying started before the time of magic web boards/forums "Red" is a very recent happening, involving individual creators. Just thinking out loud.

Yeah, Chess', I see your point. A person vs. a company. Plus old news. Yep. I just felt Craig took a crushing that was a bit over the top.
