Are all folding half dollars the same? The one I purchased from the dealer (who will remain nameless)is actually OLD! It is not NEW! Anyway, it comes apart in the bottle once in a while, and before I buy a new one I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations?

The rubber band might be messing things up though. Are you suppossed to make sure the band isn't twisted?

I have Johnson's folding half and I'm pretty satisfied..
Just be careful to buy a folding coin (coin to the bottle that folds in two pieces) and not a bite coin (folds in one piece).

That's what the dealer sold me - a bit coin. But since I made a big order (I bought something else over $100). I called him up and said "hey I'll mail the bite coin, you mail me the folding coin. Well, that's what we did, but the folding coin he sent me has no luster, and looks old. The rubber band broke and looked old. So I put new band on it, and the coin will sometimes come apart inside the bottle. I'm not sure if I'm putting the band on wrong or if the coin is just not that good.

Consider that there are two types of rubber bands (half dollar and quarter). Maybe you 're not putting on the correct one.
Also be careful to place the rubber band straight on the edge of the coin. Hope that helped you.

Sometimes you can place two bands on the coin, and that helps. Also if by chance you got a demo model (since you said the band was old) check out the groove see if there's tiny bits of an old band imbedded, which could cause the band to pop off the coin.
Hope this helps, Joe

If the band is coming off then it's likely too big. Contact the manufacturer of your coin and buy the bands that they recommend. Alternatively, half dollar bands are easy to buy online. you'll get a lifetimes worth for a few dollars. Getting an older coin is nothing unusual either and shouldn't be a problem but the original band may have been perished. If the coin looks dull compared to your other coins then give it a polish.
As for the band being twisted, shouldn't be a problem as it will most likely right itself after a few uses, but just to be safe, try to get it on as straight as you can. Kind regards Sean |

Ps. There is a version with an internal band that can be looked at much closer and doesn't suffer from the problems you've been having. It's slightly more expensive, but worth it if you're going to be using it regularly. I have a half dollar version and the band has never broken...

Thx - if 2 bands does the trick (heh heh) then I'll polish this thing and this will be over..
Anyone know the brand name of that version with an internal band? |

If it works for flippers balloon strips may work for your folding coin as well.

Balloon rings will be too loose. They can be used on a standard fl___er to cause it to operate as a gravity fl____er but will be far to loose and elastic to be used on a folding coin.

Ok...I cut 3 rings out of a 260 balloon and the coin is a little too loose...I don't have a different size balloon ..so I am going to practice with this coin and order "half dollar" size bands
