I figured this would be a good place for this since it's about finding magic related things such as magicians, conventions, etc...
This is just a pet project I'm working on. On my iPhone I have an app called Layar. There's an Android version of it as well. You can click that link to read more about it and watch a demo video of it. Here's a screen shot: Here's a youtube video of the app: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8g2xjysyKU So I'm learning how to make them and I decided to make a "Magic Search" Layar. It's already up and running. If you have the app just search for Magic search and you'l find it. But I don't have any locations set to it yet. I'm learning that part of it all right now. The idea is to use it to find things magic related. Such as magic shops, museums, theaters, shows, magicians, magicians grave sites, locations where famous acts where performed (Houdini straight jacket escape, Statue of Liberty, etc...). Magic clubs, Just about anything magic related. I'm also thinking that I can add locations with in magic gatherings such as magic conventions. For example if you go to the Abbott's get together it'll show you where the high school is where the stage shows take place. And the middle school where the show room is. And I'll also be able to add links to read more about those locations in the app. For example if you find the location a famous trick was performed. On the app you'll be able to read about it and find a link with more information about that location. At a convention and you find where the stage show takes place. The app can tell you the schedule, line up and so forth. So I just thought it would be a fun and good project to learn how to make these Layars. I need locations of such places. So I thought I'd come here and see if any of you could share some that you know of. I'll eventually have to find their location (Address, coordinates, etc...). I know there's a way to tag locations on it with google maps. So if you know of note worthy magic locations I'd appreciate it if you could share them with me here. Either just mention where they are and I can search for them or maybe a link to a google map of it. Ron Jaxon |
