...because I know that many of you also play the guitar I think this information might be of some value for you. He was besides Eric Clapton the reason I wanted to play the blues-guitar!...I am really sad, what a lost!

I'm not familiar with Garry Moore's music. Do you have a link?

One of the greats...what a loss. Can't believe he was only in his 50s.

Some of you may recall him when he played for Thin Lizzie.

...no link at hand, but in the 70th he was the guitarist of thin lizzy (Hiroshima), but his heart was the rock-blues through the 80-90s, and the following years!. Can´t believe that anybody heard of Still Got The Blues, Parisienne Walkways, Wild Frontier, Over the Hills and far away,Jumping at Shadows or Walking By Myself! Just heard Jumping at Shadows again! I´m broken down!

It always amazes me how influential a little Irish band were, Thin Lizzy were one of the greatest. RIP Gary Moore.

He was great and will be lost. He also played with Skid Row in their early days!

Gary's Skid Row was an Irish blues band, he sold the American rock band the name for $35k in 1987:
Sebastian Bach: "When (Skid Row) got signed to Atlantic, Gary Moore heard about it and said we could have the name for $35,000 U.S. dollars. 'We have to pay Gary Moore 35 grand to use the name,' and so we, as a band, did buy the name from Gary Moore. We were all glad to do it because it is a great name for a band. I remember saying, 'Wow, that's a lot of $, but we gotta do it!'" |

I knew his Skid Row days were before the Sebastian Bach era. As Paul Harvey used to say, "Now you (I) know the rest of the story!"
