We were having this discussion in my house (which tells you a lot about my house).
It's long been determined that Metropolis stands for the best of New York City and Gotham City stands for the worst. After seeing "Superman" (where NYC actually stood in for Metropolis) and "Batman Begins" "The Dark Knight" where Chicago stood in for Gotham, I suggested that Superman is set in a fictional NYC and Batman works out of a fictional Chicago. To which my kid replied; "What superhero would be in Providence?" While I was thinking, my wife spoke up and said; "Underdog." After we laughed, I realized she was right as Providence was used as the setting for the fictional city the (failed) film "Underdog" was set in. So my question; what superhero would be set in YOUR city/town? Multiple uses for the same city are OK, after all, Spider-Man really does work out of a fictional New York City.

We could use Snowplow Man in the winter, and the Road Repair Kid in the summer.

Since I live in Peoria, it would probably be "Cat" woman. Metropolis is in southern Illinois, and Superman already resides there. http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/2090

Apparently, from my limited research, Daredevil lived in San Francisco for a while. And the Teen Titans are currently based there.
I used to, every so often, have a dream where I could swing on webs like Spiderman. Frustratingly, in these dreams I was usually in the place where I grew up- which was mainly one and two-storey buildings, spaced widely apart. Suburbia is not conducive to web-slinging.

That sure looks a lot like Raymond the Amish comedian from Harleysville, Pa., but then again those Amish folk all look alike. http://www.amishcomic.com/

Where I come from it would be the "Redneck Avenger" with his sidekick and half brother/son: "Inbred Boy"
Their secret lair is a large double-wide hidden deep in the Ozark Estates trailer park. They don't fight much crime, but are always ready for a beer run. However their abilities are hampered at the moment since the Redneck-mobile is currently up on cinder blocks in the front yard.

Dustin Hoffman would be our city super hero - Rainman. He'd battle the evil doers with bolts of lighting, dark clouds would evelope them and heavy rains to disable them by way of rusting their weapons. Or would that be Tom Cruise as that's who he referred to in the movie?

When I called Raymond to book me with him in some local fire house comedy nights he told me that he didn't think he could sell a show with two novelty acts in it.
