That's pretty odd, a friend showed me that a while ago.

For those who are curious, this is yet another implementation of Jerry Andrus' classic Tri-Zonal Space Warper.

I have a feeling that the spirals in Jerry Andrus' original was used because that's the only (or easiest) way to make it physically. Then people started making computer versions of this and kept the spirals for no reason. The incredible Ryan Jon Pilling made my vision of a computer version available at

http://www.rjp.ca/warp/

It makes use of the fact that you actually don't have to be able to make one of these physically.

Hope you like it!

Loads of thanks to Ryan Jon Pilling for doing the excellent work.

That is the coolest optical illusion I have ever seen.

I'd love to be able to use this in a close up effect of some kind.

Are there any commercial magic effects available based on this principle?

Wow.

That was a sweet optical illusion. Everything is like moving and squirming.

Jeff

And my hand is about to explode...

HELP!

This is THE best I've seen so far.

Thank you very much for the link.

This is cool, but I recommend to watch also paintings on the walls and cupboards and other items close to the walls (this is even better than the hand) Smile

I have seen this posted at lum entertainment groups website. This is like being on acid without the chemical. UM... I don't DO acid anymore, that was years ago.

I've seen this before as well. But when I look at my hand, nothing happens. But if I look at the wall, the wall will swirl and move and stuff.

I tried it out and loved it. I am assembling optical illusions for school shows and purchased one of these type items from a mail order magic company. I can't remember now... I think it was Hocus pocus or hank lee??? It is about 14 or 16" diameter circle item that you spin for 30 seconds or so and the kids love it.
