I am wondering are there any other stacks besides the Stebbins stack? Don't get me wrong. This is an amazing stack which I just got introduced to. I can not wait to do this one. And if there is more are they this easy to do or set up?

Hi Funnytek,
There are some very well known card stacks out there and some not so well known. Some stacks to check out include the Aronson stack, Juan Tamariz's Mnemonica stack, and of course Richard Osterlinds BCS (Breakthrough Card System). All of them have thier individual merits. The "Eight kings..." stack is also a great easy to learn classic stack, and of course you can just do what Harry does as he can just fan out the deck and memorize every card in less than 10 seconds! ;-) S. Spatrick: Ten seconds, no. Don't be a wiseguy. 20 seconds, yes. Nicola, no - Lorayne is much better. Eight kings threatened to save ninety-five ladies for one sick knave.

Harry, Do you ever use the Si Stebbins? I know it is an easy one to learn. What I think is important is to learn what performance you would do with that type of stack. I know it would be top of the line. Anything in the books or DVD's you have released?
thank you for any guidence you can give me. |

There will always be different stacks depending on what kind of effect you want to use it for but if I was you I would just stick with the stebbins

Thank you everyone for all your great info. I am going to look into the Nicola system. I do have that great book. Now what Mr. Lorayne is talking about the Eight kings threatened to save ninety-five ladies what is that? Is that something he made? Is it in his books? Does he really memorize the whole deck without studying it? My friend H Hamburg is like that I can shuffle the deck and name a card and he spells it out and it is that card wtf? LoL! it blows my mind when this is nailed. Yesterday I tried the stack for my 1st time and the reactions were amazing! I want to learn more on stacks!

There is a clear explanatione of "eight kings" in the expert at che card table, it is a very old stack. With formulas to locate cards and from the location tell the card.

SWEET! Thank you J Rediens! I can't wait to check it out. I have so many books. At the time I got some of these books they went over my head. But as I have grown in this art things I read make more sense. You know what I mean? I still don't get why people want to get rid of some amazing books they have collected but I am always willing to pick up old school books from people that want to get rid of true ART!
Posted: Feb 21, 2011 9:20am Before I forget are there any DVD's on stacking? Or are they all in books? I love/hate to read but this art has gotten me into reading again lol. |

Just wanted to mention that this: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewf......205&8289 part of the forum is dedicated to stacks. You may get a better feel for the strength and weakness of each by browsing there for a while.
I have been using Si Stebbins due to the relative ease of getting into it from a new deck order. You can often (but far from always) adapt an effect for one stack to another stack. I don't know if it is appropriate to get into the details of that in the open part of the forum, but I am sure reading in the above link will help you get a better idea of what I an referring to. Michael EDIT: As I am posting from work, several people chipped in before I could post my reply (yes, poor me it is a busy dy in the office today). I just wanted to metion that there are also formulas for arriving a a direct card location in the Si Stebbins stack (and vice versa, arriving at which card will be at a given position) |

So what you are saying is Si's system is the best stack out there? Thank you for the link I'm on it now.
Posted: Feb 21, 2011 9:52am Ok now where is the Hacker Stack from? The guy who made this post talk's about this stack. Now are these stacks as easy to memorize like the Si? Si's is fairly easy for me but I know there has to be more like this they had mentioned the Ortiz method on there as well. What is crazy is there are so many of these stacks I guess and I want to read them all lol. |

If you do that, many things that are really hard to do with Si Stebbins become really straightforward to do. If you really want to put in the real work, then you are no longer bound by the patterns that assist you with some systems like Si Stebbins (or the Eight Kings stack for example). You can instead have a stacked deck that looks more random, and have long setups for special effects in your stack. See Aronsons for example. If I would decide to spend a lot of time on mem-deck work, I would probably abandon Si Stebbins. Hope that clarifies it, and happy to see you have appetite for reading more in the dedicated section of the forum Michael |

Since I work with borrowed decks only, can't really advise re: carry-around mem. decks. I don't use 'em.
