Certain people are aware that sometimes, I just can't resist a challenge. Either last week, or earlier this week, I was challenged to see if I could make a straitjacket. Well, I am pleased to say, that after three days of working on it, I have completed my task. This jacket is by no means up to the standards of Posey or Humane, but I think I did a fairly decent job of it having only my lightweight sewing machine at home. The jacket is made of lightweight canvas material and has grommet closures on the back and sleeves for use with some type of lacing material such as rope or something similar.
Now that I think I can handle this task, next up is a straitjacket made of camouflage material! Margarette
The only stupid question is the one not asked.

Margarette,
I read somwhere there are two legit custom-made straightjackets made by Humane that are child/vent doll sized. Apparently they are the only two ever made. Are the wheels turning yet? A vent doll jacket has got to be worth, say, $49.95? You could farm out the sewing and install the straps and grommets yourself. (Don't tease the kids with 'em though, that wouldn't be nice.) Mike
...think not that all wisdom is in your school. You may have studied other paths, but, it is important to remember that no matter who you are or where you come from, there is always more to learn.

You know Mike, you just reminded me of something. When I started out in magic I had a brown leopard bunny rabbit. My girlfried found a stuffed animal that looked exactly like my rabbit so I decided to get it and add a little ventriloquism to my show. I produced the toy rabbit from my top hat and, after a little patter and a few tricks, I would put a tiny straitjacket on him that I made from an infant's button up T-shirt and some duct tape. Then I would put him in one of those Mirror Boxes which I would show empty. After a bit of nonsense I would open the box, remove a duplicate jacket and then produce the live rabbit from the secret compartment. I stopped doing this routine after the rabbit outgrew the box but your post did bring back some memories.

So are you going to show us any pictures of your newly made straitjacket? I for one would love to see what it looks like.
