I heard about a trick Harry did on the tonight show with Johnny Carson. He had a platform with light bulbs and switches. The bulbs were different colors and could be switched from each position. The switches were different colors, matching the colors of the bulbs and could also switch positions. From what I understand you could put the bulbs in any position and the switches in any position but the appropriate color light would light up when the appropriate color switch is turned on. I have no idea what it is called but I understand that the wiring diagram is available to reproduce said apparatus. If anyone knows the name of the trick or where I can get a copy of the diagram, I would be greatly appreciative.

That's Switchboard, Viking carried it at one time.
One of the last living 10-in-one performers. I wanted to be in show business the worst way, and that was it.

It's a great effect. You should see Dean Dill's handling/routine.

Maybe, maybe not... but if you go to the link Michael Baker posted that should be enough.

Thanks for the response guys. Any idea if there are any schematics out there? I want to build one.

I think I did see the schematics in one of my old books, or at least a good starting point.
I will try to find it, but honestly, I have no idea where to start. Hopefully someone else chimes in with a reference....lol sb |

I think Michael is right. Maybe Martins Miracles. or something like that. Its a brownish small book, with a drawing of a silhouette on the front. I think that is the right book. now to find the book.... off to the attic!

I found something. It's not the exact same effect as Magic Switchboard, but very similar. It is in Martin Gardner's Mathematical Carnival in Chapter 14 The Rising Hourglass and Other Physics Puzzles. It's called Switching Paradox and involves 2 bulbs and 2 switches. Though I'm still thinking that there is another effect like it in another book.

The only small brown hardbound book I have is Pat Conway book. Mine is in a trunk, so cannot check. I do remember it outlined in a book as well but cannot think of which one as well.
