...I need to figure out which to go for... I work kid's parties, being that they're more practical, I suppose, but I strive to perform at restaurants, clubs, etc. So I was gonna hire a guy to film a promo for the close-up/mentalism whathaveyou, but should I instead stay focused on the kid shows? I'm kinda torn between practical and preferrable, if that makes any sense? FYI, I'm 24 and moved out with my Girlfriend into our own place, so...bills are important, which is why I haven't quit one of my two jobs to seek restaurant work.

Yehoshua,
I think only you can answer this question. You need to ask yourself what it is you want. If you want to work restaurants then why don't you set aside one night a week to do a restaurant. I am not sure I would do a promo video just yet. I would wait until you have a little bit of restaurant experience to see if it is something you want to pursue further. If children's parties are your bread and butter right now I would concentrate on keeping that going until you can get yourself into a restaurant. Maybe you can make arrangements with one of your jobs to give you less hours. If you do it right you will probably make as much if not more from the one night in the restaurant as you would working your second job on that particular night. P.S. you might want to move this thread to the tricky business section I think it would be more fitting.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've been doing magic for about 6 years now. I've got 2 PT jobs that are killin' my schedule though, which is making magic difficult to pursue successfully. UPS keeps me workin 5 days a week from 4am to midday, and the other is until 10pm usually, which makes restaurants hard to get. But, lest I go too far with this reply, let me take your suggestion and move this over to the Tricky Business" section. Thanks again for your time!

MagicB1S is right on target - you alone must make your decisions. If you enjoy doing kids shows, what not keep doing them until you have entrenched yourself in your preferred new direction. I can't add much more to what Magic B1S has to say but I hope you listen to him. Sounds like he's been there.
