I have been an off and on lurker and decided to register and try to join in the fun. I am in the Dallas Metromess area and when I am not trying to get someone to pick a card I enjoy working on my favorite effect in area Steak Houses... namely the disappearing strip. Might explain the tightness of my cape as of late.

Welcome mmalone,
Might also explain the tightness in your chest as well, LOL. Always nice to get another card man. -Mary Mowder |

Hey there,
Are the Rabbits bigger in Texas? And if so does that mean bigger top-hats? Welcome to the Café!

Thanks for the warm welcome... I wondered what was meant by how long the avatar would last and now I see what you meant LOL. Mary, I alternate between cards and coins with a bit of ball manipulation in between. I was so thrilled when Apocalypse was put into bound volumes as it pretty well covered all my areas of interest. I love old school traditional magic and Bobo was in Texarkana for a bit, while long before my time. Card magic is so accessible since we play so much poker down here. As far as the rabbit size, if you go to West Texas we have jack rabbits... big, fast, not as big as kangaroos but still so big there is no way you could pull one from even the biggest 10 gallon hat. With that said, I am a married 45 year old male with two kids, an understanding wife, and like most magicians am a book collector. I think that starts when you are young... you either buy tricks or you buy books. I own all 8 volumes of the Tarbell books, 2 volumes of Apocalypse collections, all of the Card College series, ( but not the light lighter and lightest... would like to see those sometime but not sure how they would rank to Nick Trost') and a lot of old classics. I am a big Harry Lorayne fan, kind of explains why I registered here. I also enjoy Paul Harris and some of DD's stuff too. As a side note, I have tickets for Harry Anderson's magic workshop in May too... now you know something about me, come here and pick a card.

Harry Anderson workshop! Now, I'm very jealous.
Welcome, Mike. I had been lurking for a while, too, and it's more fun to participate. So jump in. It's great. |

I had the honor of spending four hours with Bobo one magical evening at a convention. Great guy. Very old by the time I met him...but that evening changed my life...it was way back in the 1990's when I was brand new to magic.
Welcome! David
