Hi Guys,
While I understand the basic concept of a toe switch, I've never actuality seen one. ARe there either pre-made toe-switches or instructions for building one somewhere? Thanks JK

You might already have used one, but on your thumb instead of in your shoe. Does that make de light go on in your brain?

I could see possibly building one out of those clickers. If you know what I'm talking about, like from "Band of Brothers" what they used to communicate in the middle of the night. I would take one of those apart to start. I would think the bend in the metal is just what you would need, scratch the metal have a flat disc on the bottom. Solider leads on both with an insulator in between. You might need a to solider a piece of metal in the middle of the flat one so the top one doesn't have to go all the way down an "click". Just a thought...
Why a toe switch anyway. I would be afraid of misfires not to mention the agony of having to walk around with your big toe up in the air, as to not trigger it. I think there are more reliable and secure methods. I use to build mine with bigger than average momentary switches, and a spst "safety" switch in line. I would then tuck it in my waste, under clothing or my coat. I'd activate it by knocking my elbow on my hip. Now a days... remotes are so tiny... you can hide them in anything. I also understand the benefit of hard wiring.

Toe switches are easy - just look in your local electronics shop (eg Maplin in the UK, probably Radio Shack in the US) and you'll find a several very small switches. Glue the switch to an improvised insole - making sure it's in the right place - and off you go.

Depending on the size you need (and can conceal), you might talk to your friendly neighborhood dentist. Most of the handpieces are run by toe switches. If they have an old chair they are getting rid of, they might have a working toe switch they might just give you...just a thought!

I think you should build a toe switch... where you and your assistant end up with each others toes. That would be creative building of a "toe switch".
