I have found it interesting how many of the marketing guys have other jobs. Interesting.

The fact is that most !@#$% a lot are the ones that do absolutely nothing for themselves to be a professional and to seek the business they want. It is and was not aimed at anyone. Just a general statement is all.
There are so many lazy magicians out there who are the first to yell about how bad things are and how they have no shows at all. Then you find out they are the same people who have no website, bad marketing materials and have never even attempted to learn or apply new marketing ideas. I am certainly not a marketing guru. I am just a guy who works very hard to get what I want and make it happen for myself. Kyle

I really do not think they have gone anywhere. I still get the emails and the newsletters. There tends to be a dry spell during the winter months usually and during the Spring, it starts to gear up again. Some are simply working while others are doing the convention and lecture curcuit and yet others working on new materials and products. I have not personally really seen much of a downside to it.
Regardless if one is full time or part time, one stills needs to treat their business the right way. You still need to apply sound marketing principles and concepts that work for you. Kyle

We're all in the selling business whether we like it or not. It doesn't matter whether
you're a lawyer, a politician, manager, an engineer, accountant, doctor, cook, or a magician. Every day of your life you selling yourself. Every time we post on here, we selling an opinion. So sell me on this: What is the difference in selling a Product, (be it any magic item) and selling an "Opinion" that the product is no good? If you convince someone not to buy something that may have worked for them, then you actually hurt that person more by convincing him NOT to buy. You could just as easily be called a slime bag guru salesperson too. I've always been amazed how so many magicians shy away from other magicians simply because they're offering something for sale. It's like, 'how dare you be selling something and speak to me.' Kind of sad in a way. But then I guess that's what we salespeople do, we try to do our part in persuading others to believe what we believe. So here is my sales pitch for the day: If you got something to sell, sell it. Nothing wrong with that. Even if it is only an opinion, just make sure you don't hurt others while doing it. Tom

To the Marketing Guru's that are reading this....are any of you familiar with Achieve Global? I only ask because I have the complete course and have gone to school utilizing the program. I'm not a business man, nor a money making performer....but is this information worthwhile to keep tucked away in the closet?
Thanks, Chris |
