I'm far from an expert, but to me it reeks of insufficient practice. He's not relaxed with the trick. His whole manner and posture is tense. I think that's why it's so slow - he's being careful not to screw it up, because he lacks confidence.

If they were going to behead him for being a magician they would be killing an innocent man.

I think he is trying to be mysterious. He has failed miserably.
I take that back. He has failed beyond anyone's wildest expectations.

Apparently they have a lot to learn.
The other day a Saudi magician turned a boy into a girl on TV. It really traumatized my 3 year old granddaughter.

He's from a society that has no current tradition of magic. He has no one near him as a sounding board to help him improve, unlike the posters in this thread. I agree he isn't ready, but it is a positive indicator of the opening up of Saudi society that they would air these segments - and good for him for trying to bring theatrical magic to his culture.
I perform impromptu magic for Muslim friends all the time, in Arabic, (including in Saudi Arabia when I am there) and while it is true that some might associate it with witchcraft, most people know it's sleight of hand and they react to it in exactly the same way as any other human. They'll even try and mess you up on effects where you turn your back while a card is selected, just like laymen in the West. In fact, I have only ever had one person ask whether it was real, and equate it with djinn's etc, and he wasn't a Saudi. I've had more people in Australia react adversely to magic than people in the Middle East. I'm speaking about very conservative Christians who thought it was witchcraft. I may look this guy up when I am there next.
Whenever I find myself gripping anything too tightly I just ask myself "How would Guy Hollingworth hold this?"

Just so you guys could now, his illusions are even slower than the cups and balls you saw. One of my relatives saw his show, and said that he opened a box and showed that it is empty for about 5 mins. I'm guessing he was exaggerating, however he is pretty slow!

I can honestly say that his act was, well...astonishing.
