Hi, I'm a young magician , only 14. Im in the young magicians club which is the youth iniative of the magic circle, so I suppose I'm on the right way to becoming a member my self in the future.
I enjoy all magic but because of the more serious personality I give off it works better me performing sleight of hand magic and mentalism. I enjoy working with cards, not a flourisher though, I also enjoy working with coins although all I really do is a coins across with three half crowns and the coins go from hand to hand with a nice audible ''clink''. Im also trying to learn Dai Vernons Kangaroo coins and spell bound. I don't really have a problem performing as such apart from I never know whether to do magic as in professors nightmare my coins across , Dai vernons cutting the aces ,triumph you know tricks where people will say your obviously a skilled manipulator or sleight of hand artist; rather than if I did mentalism ( mainly with cards ) and afterwards people don't really know what to say but there still impressed. So that's the only real problem I have although whenever I perform in front of a crowd say 6 or 7 of my dads work friends ( who I don't know well ) in the living room I just bluff my way through it all with a deck of cards in my hands professors nightmare at the side and my half crowns in my pockets and ill do a bit of both and it doesn't seem to flow going from ''magic to mindreaing'' if you know what I mean... But I'm young , ive got the most precious thing on my side .. Time , so ill gain experience and get better. Thanks for reading , if any one could comment on my little problem with their personal eperience id be very happy... Simon |

Welcome SimonG-97,
You surely sound like you are on the right track. I've really notice the "greying" of our local Magic Clubs so it is surprising to me that so many of our Café members are young. It gives me hope for the future of Magic to hear your story. By the way, if you are near a Magic Club you should look into visiting a few meetings young and old have a lot to share and a lot in common. -Mary Mowder |

Hi Mary I have considered joining a local club but am unsure if I can really commit , I do attend a few of international magics lectures in london though, I really enjoy them and the young magicians club do workshops once a month.

I don't know if I want to commit to another group, the young magicians group I'm involved with is great as it allows me to pass into the magic circle easier and all the events are held at the magic circle headquarters.
