Magic Castle Members: Don't miss the latest on-line episode of "Who's Hoo with Fitzgerald"! (the "members only" section of the Castle website under "Who's Hoo".)
Fitzgerald interviews writer/director/card technician Damian Nieman. He'll talk about making "Shade", working with Sylvester Stallone, and the influence of Dai Vernon. Interesting stuff! Prior episodes, available for on-line viewing, have featured Bill Goodwin, Jamy Ian Swiss, Steve Valentine, Jeff Altman, Larry Wilmore, Neil Patrick Harris, George Tovar & more! Future episodes will feature Jim Steinmeyer, Jonathan Pendragon, David Lovering, Tina Lenert, Mike Caveney, Dana Daniels, Chipper Lowell & John Gaughan! |

We have seen the recent Richard Turner video, will this also be "open", or do you need a password to view it?

Unfortunately, there will not be a link posted. (The Richard Turner interview aired on The Magic Café without my permission - but that's ok.) The interviews are done for the membership of the Magic Castle.

Oh.... Good to know.
Not sure why its a big deal, the Turner interview seemed to generate interest. And I would also guess not that many people who frequent this area of the Café are "membership".

I find it a bit odd to promote a video that very few Café members will be able to enjoy!

Gotta say, with love in my heart, that while I enjoyed watching Richard Turner, the "show" was so incredibly, impossibly bad that I felt extremely uncomfortable and embarrassed. Are magicians among the poorest entertainers on the planet?
And no, I'm not kidding. I found it that bad. |

Yes, magicians are among the poorest entertainers on the planet. And they're getting worse. what other performing profession is so in love with its cliche's that you regularly see people currently performing in a manner that would have been current a century ago. Magic is strangely conservative and packed with people who manage to be outgoing and socially awkward at the same time, which is a deadly uncomfortable combination.
The last time I was at an event where a magician was working, it was a business attire sort of event and the kid came up to the table in a tux and started doing the miser's dream while ogling my date's chest half the time he was talking to us. I wouldn't mention it except that in my experience that sort of inept buffoon is more of a rule than an exception. Personally, I much prefer gamblers and criminals.
