I have some black rubber balls and I want to make a shell for the set. I think the best approach is to find an existing shell for a 1" ball and color it to match. Does anyone one out there know if there is a set of multiplying balls or ball vases that uses a 1" ball?
Any alternative approaches? Thanks in advance. Bye for now Harold

It's always much harder trying to find a shell that fits your requirements, that is why I suggest you get yourself a set of 'Fakini Multiplying Golf Balls'. They are 1 1/2" and are fantastic balls—the best in the market (I'm sure everyone will agree with me here!). Sure they ain't cheap—but nowadays you get what you pay for!
They are always hard to come by, but Denny of Denny and Lee put a back order in for you, guaranteeing you a set when they finally do arrive. http://www.dennymagic.com Kevin |

My question would be why are you using the 1 inch balls for a set in the first place? To me the 1 inch set are way too small for an audience to really see well and enjoy in your performance.
I would suggest going with the 1 3/4 inch size. It has a better weight to it, better feel and the balls can be seen much better from the audience. Also, 1 3/4 inch balls can be found at most toy stores as super bouncy balls. They are cheap, good size, come in many colors and have a good weight as well. They are perfect for the beginner or if you just want to practice without having to buy a pricey set.

Kyle, I am using the balls in a closeup three ball routine, so visibility isn't an issue. Moreover, carrying 4 1-3/4" in my right pocket is out of the question.

Harold:
That certainly does explain it a bit better. Thanks for clarifying that for me. I do appreciate it. I just figured that you wanted to use them in a stage routine. If done on the stage, the 1 inch set is very difficult to see. Let me know how you progress with it. =)

OK guys, ya sold me! Fakini! Wow.
Holy ****, what a nice set of MBB's! Silicone no less! Man, you can bet I made THAT site a favorite. I might seem like I've been in a cave all my life, but I've recently returned to magic as a hobby after putting it aside for a long time (thanks to my girlfriend who HATES magic), and am finding new sites every day! That one ROCKS! I think that's a fair price for such a quality set. Unfortunately, there are only three balls and one shell, as I'm used to the Ireland Golf Balls that include four and TWO shells. Always nice to have a backup in case of paint chippage. Four balls make it nice to show at the end, both sides, as four solid rubber balls that they can feel and examine. I usually perform that up-close and personal with no problem, as well as on a small stage setting. I guess the Fakini balls are good enough as three and a shell, because they're MEANT for stage work, not for examination. Thanks for a great thread! Doug |
