Obviously it's down to the owners of each restaurant to decide whether it's something they are comfortable with - it's the sort of thing that as a performer you will know to check with owners before doing it, just the same as using fire/flash paper.

As I said the claim was a bit dubious. Good luck.

Just looking through effects to perform for a couple of magic themed events and this is a total winner!
been doing it for a good while now and I really love it, you can play it pretty simply or you can turn it into a mind melter, great stuff!

Hey Adam,
I'm pleased you're still getting use and reactions out of it, if anyone is interested I've still got about 12 copies left for sale. Also if anyone is looking for performance tips for Pierced then just get in contact. Chris |

As per saliva being splattered over a diners meal, balloons all have a powder inside similar to slush powder specifically to absorb humidity and saliva. If a balloon blown my mouth pops, you might even see some of the dusty powder in the air.
That being said, I don't think this is an ideal effect for tables where there is food present (because a bit of balloon could end up in a dish) or when there is even one member of an audience that would be uncomfortable with a balloon or the pop associated with the effect. Having a spectator get excluded so everybody else can see the effect is also a no-no in my opinion. Nobody likes to be excluded from the group, regardless of the reason. |

It's always advisable to check with a table before bringing out a balloon, there are some strange phobias out there.
It is better suited to a non-restaurant environment such as a bar but that's not to say it doesn't work in restaurants because it really does. It's the sort of trick that there is a time and a place for, if you're working in a high end restaurant then maybe leave it out of your set, its a judgement call really. |

I don't (wouldn't) do it in restaurants, bangs aren't always great for keeping a mood going
also, stuff could fly everywhere, including the card if I was doing it in a restaurant I don't think I would be performing while the customers were actually eating, so if it did land in their plate, it would just be leftovers hopefully tends to be where a bang can fit, bigger places (that might have food) but there is enough space and noise that it doesn't matter, or somewhere where you want everyone's attention so a bang is good

Bars are Pierced's second home
And yes, don't perform it while people are eating but you shouldn't perform ANY tricks while people are still eating! |
