Has anyone tried a leather desktop pad as a closeup mat? My mat is sad and old, and I generally don't even use it. As I'm starting to get into routines that require more space I was looking at getting a new mat. I like the look of the leather desktop pads, and they seem rugged, but will they be as functional?
Just kinda thought I'd throw it out there and see what people's thoughts are. If I get a resounding "no, it won't work because of X" then I get to save some money. I'll just have to find something I like the looks of that will work. |

They do look good but the one I saw at Staples did not have a good surface for matrix type effects. Visit bobsolarimagic.com and purchase the Miracle Mat. It is priced right, it is a good size and the built in hold outs are an awesome addition. Plus Bob is great to deal with. Good luck!
