I must admit, I wait with bated breath to hear how Gdw comes down on this last statement of Tom Ball's.
On the one hand, TB seems to be quite anti-authority and is calling for violent revolution in the streets. On the other, he's also pro hitting children and giving them split lips.

Tragic. Certainly don't agree with his call to violence, or his slapping his daughter.
One quick thought, why didn't he just pull his hand away?

This story seems to go back quite a ways. TB's story appears to be documented (in his own words) in the document below. To be honest, there is far too much there for me to want to read. Seems like a sad story and local authorities might have overstepped their bounds, but this Tom Ball also seems to have had some serious problems.
http://apathyonline.net/wp-content/uploa......tory.pdf “With the wiggling and squirming an agitated child can have when being restrained a bruised neck was well within possibilities.” “She kept licking. I flopped my right hand, the one she was licking, three times as a slap. I stood up and turned to face her bed. She rolled on her stomach. Then she belched out a mouthful of blood. I was surprised by the volume that Melissa spat out. As a medic, I knew there were no major arteries or veins in the area. I squatted down and pulled her upper lip up to find the wound. There was a cut on the nside of the upper lip, left side about half an inch about the edge of the mouth. I looked for other wounds. There was none. So where did all this blood come from? Then I remembered She looks like my mother, Jane. I look like my mother, Jane. I usually salivate a lot. I have had dentists tease me about trying to drown them. She looks like me. She has the same mouth, the same saliva gland system. Her mouthful was not blood. It was blood tinged saliva. Still made a mess.”

For instance, he says "one might wonder how a jobless man could pay anything to child support behind bars, and perhaps Thomas was wondering how that might be possible as well" when in fact Tom Ball himself says that the amount in question was "not big money" and that he could have easily borrowed it.

Just as an aside, did you know that one could self-immolate by drowning? The word isn't inherently about burning, but sacrifice.

Again, Tom Ball himself says that the amount in question was "not big money" and that he could have easily borrowed it before he showed up in court. Had he done so, he would not have had to worry about jail in the first place.

Yes, it was not the point of Tom's writing. But the article made it seem like it was.
The 'freekeene' article wrote "Facing an indefinite jail sentence, during which the amount “owed” would continue to grow, [Tom] chose to end his life ...". That is one of the problems I have with the article. If the money was not an issue, why does the article even bring it up? By doing this, the article actually makes quite a big deal out of the money. It claims Tom was driven to end his life because of the money he owed (a relatively small amount Tom actually says was "not big money" and that he could easily obtain) and because of an indefinite jail sentence (that Tom could have easily avoided). There was no absurdity in locking him up until he paid being addressed here. Tom indicated that he could obtain the relatively small amount of money with a simple phone call or two. If the article is trying to illustrate the absurdity you say, then this case is not a good illustration of it.

Is there a YouTube channel for this stuff yet?
Rants where you can rate the rant? Maybe a special section for each audience so they can rate the videos General and category specific hate speech Autoerotic Asphyxiation episodes Suicides w/wo last statements Animal abuse? The idea being for those who like to watch and rate the stuff to have a place and the rest of us to get on with our lives without caring if "kan I haz double cheezburgr?" is going viral tonight. I'm taking some solace from being spared (so far of) learning that there's video of the inflamation event on the guy's facebook page and lots of commentary on the quality of the note and the videos posted to go with it. :(
...to all the coins I've dropped here

The same guy who wrote the article has a radio show with another guy, and thy were discussing it, where in they discussed how the money was not the issue, but rather what Tom considered to be the injustice of it all. Re-reading the article I am seeing that I was mixing in what I remembered from the radio show.
