Not only in Spain.
I toured Europe for 3 months and the men not only use Fanny Packs but all different types of bags for every day use. It seems like it is only in the US that they portray a geeky image. I have never been into fads or style. I did my own thing. But nonetheless, I am not trying to attract women. Those days are over. I wear one slung over my shoulder not only for my magic but also a camera, ITouch, phone, wallet, RFID case for credit cards, pen, Leatherman, etc. etc. I actually have 3 of them for doing different sets. Another option is to wear a small backpack. That seems to be more stylish in the US. If you think it makes you look like a geek, don't wear it. But it is very practical.

Thanks all for the laughs. I think some of you should branch out into comedy, I know I snorted more than once! A bag that has a long enough strap to be worn cross body seems like a good solution to this dilemma.

Uh, that would be a NO. I do not wear fanny packs, nor do I have any urge to. If it works for you, great, but there is no way I will voluntarily wear a fanny pack.

Guilty of wearing a Fanny Pack.
I am ready to bust out where ever I go. Some of my magic buddies carry a canvas case which looks like a camera case of sorts. They just carry it in their hand. The first magician I ever saw wear one was Jeff McBride. Which fit his magicall character. BTW I'm looking for a new pouch to carry my close-up stuff in. Anybody? PM me. Leather is a must.

This seems appropriate in a really immature way...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MCeRU9nQtE It's EXPLICIT. So bear that in mind before you click. |

Nope.
Wonder is very necessary in life. When we're little kids, we're filled with wonder for the world - it's fascinating and miraculous. A lot of people lose that. They become cynical and jaded, especially in modern day society. Magic renews that wonder.

Interesting...magicians have no problem keeping their coins in a womans change purse, but refuse to wear a fanny pack in fear of appearing nerdish.

Oh!Intereting question
My friend which can do a lot of magic wears a fanny pack. However, he has a funny(sorry for the world but actually he is) look and does funny performance. So ,in my opinion, if you were funny guy, then wear a fanny pack, otherwise, never do this. |
