Hi
Here's something that always make me wonder what the poster is trying to say. I know the meaning of "Organic" but what does it mean when used to describe a magic effect, for example,"I found this effect very practical, organic and very easy to reset". Thanks, for the life of me I have no idea what their trying to say.

Being a beginner to magic I might be way off here but I recently bought CHOP which I have seen described as being organic as in a lot of the materials you need for the trick are out there in the real world. i.e. the cup and the bill can be borrowed from spectators and do not have to be carried around.
Or as I say, I might be way off...!! AA

Basically, natural. The opposite of mechanical and clunky

I think samuwel nailed it. Personally I don't think that 'organic' when applied to magic is all that helpful. I'm a rabid 'organic' gardener and I know exactly what it means in detail. In magic the word 'natural' is probably more easily descriptive and even there you have to put it into context. What's 'natural' to me might not seem so to another performer!
I tend to think of 'organic' as it's used to describe magic as something that 'fits' into what the performer is doing whether totally natural or not, but that's me. How does it fit into the overall structure of my act, etc. Is it sound? That is does it work for me? Does it FOOL folks? Is it natural? That is when looked at does it seem like something a magician would do? Magicians, remember, do STRANGE, ODD, OUT THERE and generally UNNATURAL things. Is the trick natural in that sense? Is it organic? Does it fit contextually the fullness of my act and the intent of my act? Does the trick or routine help and support the overall structure of my act? Anyway...this is something can certainly be hashed out and debated. But, the above works for me. Best,
Brad Burt
