This question is posed to anyone who performs this effect. I have been working with the Mnemonica stack and came across TNT and for one reason or another I can't seem to get it to work as explained. I was hoping that someone here either in this thread or through PM could help me get a grasp on it. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Try it with one riffle shuffle first so you can see the interlocking chains concept. Then try 2 to see the 4 runs of cards.

"TNT" is NOT related to any riffle shuffles and wouldn't work. It is basically a self working trick; that's why I don't understand the problem. Easiest way is to set up the deck red/black/red/black... and then to see how it works. One selection will end up as only black one amongst red cards, the second selection as only red one amongst black cards. Translated to a memorized deck there are several options... one is e. g. that you'll have one odd card (concerning its stack number) amongst 25 even cards a. s. o. Jan

TNT from page 223 in Mnemonica is completely based on riffle shuffling and following 4 chains of cards. (Juan calls them North, South, East, and West piles when he separates them) Check your copy of Mnemonica. He also mentions this as being an effect he fooled Piet Forton and Vernon with at the Castle in 1982.

Thanks, Doug, you are right...! For some reasons Juan Tamariz called his "Never Blind Nor Silly" (see also in "Sonata") in one Spanish edition "TNT", also called like that by Roberto Giobbi in a German edition of "Card College Lighter" (1990)... Jan
