Harry Lorayne's Classic Collections, that is.
I have volumes 1 and 2 but I have not seen volume 3. To my surprise I found volumes 1 and 2 to be of about equal quality and usefulness. That is, they are both excellent volumes and I have definitely taken some material from each (and there is plenty of other material that I probably will use some day.) What have your experiences been? Does one volume stand out from the others for you? John

Completely unsurprising -- though perhaps remarkable that one person can have that much first-rate material and divide it without any loss of quality. |

I also [sadly] don't have volume three yet. However, in comparing volumes one and two, there is certainly no difference in quality (both contain VERY HIGH quality effects). I feel like the complexity/difficulty of the effects (in the aggregate) goes up *slightly from volume one to volume two? Maybe it's just me. Neither has anything that's particularly knuckle-busting; there's definitely something for everyone. But that's the way it's supposed to be, right? If you take them in order, they'll make you a better card magician. Both are killer and I wouldn't want to to have to do without either. Can't wait to get volume three and realize what I've been missing!
Curious what other people think as well. |

All Harry Lorayne's Materials are amazing. The methods are simple and direct but the effect to the spectators is staggering

Better order Vol. 3 before it goes out of print.

Harry,
What's your next book? Any chance of reprinting the Personal Collection?

Harry Lorayne's stuff is brilliant! Harry, I was wondering if all these tricks you publish in your books if they are tricks you've learned over the years that you've modified to call them your own or are some yours and others someone else's? Cause it's ridiculous (in a good way) how almost every trick is really good!

Motown: New book of new stuff coming out, hopefully, before Christmas. I always send an e-mail (Attachment) copy of the full-page ad to all on my email list. If you - or anyone else reading this - would like to receive one when the book is ready, send your email address to my personal email address - the first one listed under this post, with the word "earthlink" in it.
No plans to reprint Personal Collection, but there will be a section in the new book called "Personal Collection Section" - which will have some re-writes, etc., of some of the really strong stuff from that book. HL.

I have all 3 volumes of The Classic Collection. Mr. Lorayne has beefed up the original books' content to make the new collections a "must-have". I feel that the additional material and revisions are a real boon. Also, I like having the older (smaller/lighter) original books. They fit in my computer bag on short flights while on business.

Just checked Mr. Lorayne's website and the new site design is good and works well in all web browsers. The good news is that Harry Lorayne is going to release a new book containing 50 impromptu card effects [Title: Special Effects]. The bad news is that all the Apocalypse volumes are out of stock at his website.
I have The Classic Collection 2 and it is an excellent book. I will also recommend getting The Magic Book as well. -octave |

I know, I know, The Magic Book is, basically, out of print. Sorry about that. I may re-write the thing in the future in TCC, vol. 4 (no, no, forget that!). I do have a few copies left of the Delux Collector's Edition, but they're very expensive - all things considered. HL.

Or would the majority of it be new? The Apocalypse and Best of Friends volumes are definitely stand alone books (I never realized the abundance of material and how huge they were until I got them in my hands), but I would love to hear on what gems might be included on Vol. 4. The rave reviews from the first two volumes forced you to do a third, so the rave reviews from Vol. 3 are forcing another one, right? Ha ha. --- Besides Apocalypse, Best of Friends, Doug Edwards Packs a Wallop!, The Card Classics of Ken Krenzel and The Magic Book, is there any other books that I'm missing that Harry hasn't included an updated version in one of his Classic Collections? |

The Himber Wallet Book, The Magic Book, The Memory Book & Star Quality (as well as a couple of other memory titles that I don't believe have any magic in them)...
There are likely more! Andrew |
