For those of you with bigger hands, which type of currency do you use? I've always found quarters to be too small, but do you find ways around this?

I think hald dollars are the perfect size for my hands. Those with large hands might even want to move up to silver dollar coins.

Despite the fact that I have pretty large hands, I use half dollars (not dollars).. This is more because of my style, the routines that I am performing and the sleights that I'm using..
For example I don't think that you could do a palm to palm change with silver dollars, there is so much movement in the hand..
I think half dollar size coins are the best to go. Even for those who have small hands.. David Roth's hands prove this..

I prefer half dollars for close up. They are easier to manage than dollar coins yet still visible to the spectators when appropriate. The best way to find what works for you is simply to try different coins.

I recommend that you learn with a coin that seems to be a comfortable size. However, once you feel comfortable then practice with coins of different sizes. As you progress the ability to use different sized coins opens a lot of potential and lets you perform more impromptu effects using coins that spectators have.

Where are half dollars available? Do major banks such as Chase still carry them?

English Pennies. They are lighter than half dollars so I find learning to CP easier with them. They are the same circumference as half dollars.

I just bought "Stand Up Coin Magic" by Nathan Kranzo. You might want to consider that one, as well.

Hi Mike,

Just wanted to say I have bought this and am looking forward to it. Funnily enough I was thinking wouldn't it be great if someone did a DVD of just stand up routines?!

Thanks for the tip.

Best wishes,

Danny
