I recently saw a magician doing a trick where he tied a 24" silk onto a microphone stand using a special trick knot, then managed to get it off the mike stand "magically." Obviously a fake knot routine. Any help here? Thanks guys.

Mark Wilson page 273 has a knot through arm effect that might be similar. Worth a look. I think Fulves' Self Working Handkerchief book has a couple of similar tricks.

This is not the silk section, it is the rope section, but if the guy actually tied a knot, it was probably Rice's Dis-Solvo trick.
http://www.silkkingmagic.com/Rice's%20Dis-solvo.htm If he did not tie a knot with the silk, he most likely performed the silk thru mic stand trick that uses a reel. This is the most likely answer as most magician and comics do this trick. Search the silk section for finger reel. Finger Reels can be purchased for $6 to $150 depending on your requirements. Most buy the Kirkendall reel from Steven's Magic for $85.00. http://www.stevensmagic.com/index.php?ma......d=111524 |
