If you're looking for some dynamic publicity photos, I'll be, once again, setting up a complete professional photo studio at Kidabra in a couple of weeks. (I'll be in the dealers room.) I've got new pricing/packages to fit every budget. Here are the details:

Mike, wish I could go to Kidabra just to get your excellent photography work. Can you suggest which type of photographer to use for magician publicity photos? I lost my photographer due to companies being bought out and moving. He worked for a national moving company. Did an excellent job, now I need a creative photographer.

Look for a photographer that has experience photographing actors, bands, etc. You want someone who understands the difference between publicity photos and portraits. The key thing it to make sure you look dynamic in your photo. Portraits usually have a person looking static.

Mike, how about if you do a photography tour on the magic lecture circuit?
I really like your examples you referenced. |

I LOVE Mike’s Work, Character & Ethics… oh and he takes good pictures too! (Hehehehe!) I was fortunate enough to have Mike take some LIVE shots while I was speaking and he delivered the goods under rigorous circumstances. No special lighting, backdrop atmosphere like he has mastered in his ‘studio’ style shoots and he cam through like a champ! PLUS he is a good guy, really understands what we are going for and that really does make all the difference n the world!
Thanks Mike! Deano in Reno <><

Thank you so much Dean! I appreciate the compliments.
Bill, I'd love to do tour to take photos but it's a pretty expensive proposition. I'd have to have several commitments at each stop or I could end spending a lot of money without return. |

You could put together a lecture, that would cover your initial expenses, and then do a photography session. I don't know why you would not get a lot of photography work from this as everyone needs a photo or pictures for publicity. You could require 2 commitments as well from each lecture stop. Just means more work on the booking end of things. Just putting the idea out there, that's all I was saying. |

It's a good ideal, Bill. I would just have to figure out all the details.
