Are any of you just a "LOCAL MAGICIAN"?
Nameless, faceless, could be anyone and anyone could do your job (not act or show, just a job) Google Adwords Banner Ads for "Philip & Henry" read "Reserve a Local Magician" What a joke and insult, presenting magicians like they are all the same. Interchangeable cogs in the "Philip & Henry" bottom feeder machine. We all know for local shows they send whatever guy who will take the lowest price for that gig The cleint pays $350 for a show but really only gets a $150 show as that's what they pay to talent (they pay less if they can get away with it) So if you take a Philip & Henry show, you're just a "Local Magician", you are nobody, nothing special and treated and advertised as such. A nameless, faceless commodity. I'd like to think if you are reading this you are serious about business and have some talent Decide how you are going to be treated and please stop doing the P & H bottom end shows, if every performer stopped taking their $150 birthday party gigs they would have to pay more I sincerely dislike Philip & Henry and their low end business practices, Thank you for letting me get that out Now my time will be better spent practicing

Yes, they'll always be here and they make me look good. In a perverse way I am glad that there are cheap acts that suck; it helps people to see the value in a good act.

I always get asked about them and why they are so much more than you are. And I tell them. Then they hire me. P&H kind f works for me.

Quote "Reserve a Local Magician" Quote
Vick, Many people ask where you're coming from because they feel comfortable knowing you don't drive a long distance. If you tell them you're coming 200 miles they may wonder if you'll show-up on time, if at all. - - - That being said, people who book shows because they are "the expert from afar" would not use those words, or stratagy, & would probably not be doing cheap parties. When you consider the person who want's to "go cheap" probably assumes that performers who have to travel need to charge more, the "local" aspect is attractive. So "Reserve a Local Magician" is a selling point, for some.

Jay leslie - I want people to hire "Illusions by Vick" not some local whatever and the only thing cheap and P & H is what they pay out to performers, I've posted their fees and payouts before
tacrowl - You are correct as always, I just need to vent about them sometimes P & H hurt and in a perverse way help the industry but they do much more damage. I know more about them that I can say but bottom line is for local shows they send poor quality acts out and charge top dollar. What I can say and know for a fact is for local shows they charge $389 for a "family show") (childrens birthday party with adults present) and they try to keep the pay out at $125. What kind of show does someone get for $125???? After the client pays $389 and sees a $125 show they are unlikely to considering hiring a magician again If I didn't care about the industry I'd love the business model
