I needed a table to be portable, quirky, and a bit classy. Nothing I found did it for me. What is a guy to do? Finally I looked out the window (of my college trigonometry class)and figured it out. A table that unfolds from a suitcase! About 2 weeks of tweaking hinge placements and the design was done and I built it that weekend. The link shows the result in action.

Dylan, that seems like a business solution that you could market to those of us less inclined to self-craft. It was highly considerate of you to share it with the community here guy!

The James Bond of busking? That is pretty slick.

Very nice! The nice thing about it is that it looks very versatile, and you could use a suitcase like the one you have, or tweak it to fit a very nice attaché-type case. Wonderful thinking! I am not a busker or street worker, but I must say that this table would work well for parlor/stage/kidshow performers as well as clowns, MCs, etc. Thanks for sharing!

I'm very impressed by the craftsmanship put into that table. But doesn't it seem even lower than MY table?

I designed it that way because my balloon bag that I work out of is just under a foot tall which puts everything in the perfect place for me to grab. I never intended for anyone to make the same table that I did. I know that a magician has different needs then I. For example. My table top really does not need to be big and it is not. Most magicians would find my table restrictive. Buy a bigger case then I did. This will solve just about every problem. It will give you more working space. There will be more room for a larger base inside meaning a taller table. And there will also be more space left over inside when done that you may be able to tack on some additions like a good sized magnetic ditch or pouch to store your tips. I myself am adding a cloth pouch that opens up to accept balloon scraps (read trashcan). I never put any exacting measurements in the instructions because I know that no one will need the same table. What is really important is the hinge placement and folding design. Everything else is up to interpretation and common sense. Dylan |

With the way the legs are cut, there is even possible storage space inside the case when the legs are folded up. Of course, you would have to modify it for that kind of use because with the original idea, the whole thing gets turned over after the legs are extended. Once again, very versatile! |

Indeed it is possible to store stuff inside the case itself when folded. I busk balloons so I deal with the constant cash exchange so it often just goes to the back pocket for convenience but at the end of the day I take the waded up bundle out and throw it in the case. I have also kept little gimmicks in the case that are still accessible when the case is flipped (and well hidden).

Ah, the height thing makes sense now.
