Transwave by Andrew Loh
a 11 page ebook, available from http://www.freewebs.com/cardicians/ I don't know what Andrew will charge for this ebook, but check his website on release. Transwave is Andrew's version of a classic transposition plot, with numerous phases and a kicker finish! The effect is as follows: two sets of four of a kind (say Aces and Kings) are clearly shown. The Kings are counted into your hand, the Aces are placed to the table. With a snap, the Kings in your hand turn face down, and are then turned over to show they have changed into Aces. The tabled packet is picked up and, again with a snap, visually changes to Kings. Following this, one card from each packet has magically turned face down, and, when they are turned over, shown to have transposed packets. You then explain that the trick works with trick cards. The Kings are turned over showing that they all have different coloured backs! There is a lot going on in this routine and, in most cases, that's never good. These effects become overly muddled and confusing to spectators to the extent that you'd be better performing each as a single piece. From reading my description above, you're probably thinking the same of this effect, but each flows smoothly into the other, and with the spectator not having to remember a card (or cards), they can relax and enjoy the effect. Despite it's phases, Transwave doesn't take a long time to perform either (up to 3 or 4 minutes maximum - unless you have a really wordy presentation). I have to say that the routine is very well constructed too. Andrew turns an unexaminable card trick into an examinable one by using the clean up as an effect! At the end of the effect, everything can be examined, which is always a great way to end. Technically, there are no hard core sleights here (apart from the move to change the cards, but Andrew also offers an alternative using a sleight you probably use already). However, the first action required will take some practice to get smooth, not to mention the fact that you'll need to watch your angles. That done, it's all plain sailing with nothing more than a standard packet trick move and a colour change required. The writing is clear and there are numerous illustrations to help. Overall, it's a great transposition routine that I could see myself using and ends clean. Recommended. |

I like the trick - it is clever to use a discrepancy to add another effect so then everything is clean at the end. This is a beautiful and effective packet effect.

This is one of my favorites from Andrew. It's very magical and off-beat. Really fun effect!

I just performed TransWave to my friends just now at my friend's party, I really loved the reaction especially the females!
The thing is many, many people would love to see those cards but the funny question from one of my friends was, can I take back these cards? Can they changed back to normal? I said ya, just place them under your pillow for one week and they'll change to red backs! - It worked! He believed me! Thanks guys for your overwhelming response on my latest offering and emails.
Just to provide some info as I received some emails asking whether this routine requires any palming. Actually, there's no palming involved. At the end of the routine, everything can be examined. There's NO ditching of cards or any rough and smooth to hide the mechanism. Thanks.
