I was just wondering if anyone has ever come across a book test effect for the Bible?

Sort off. When Rachel Wild/Aldo Colombini did their lecture at the World Magic Seminar in Vegas several years ago (and later at Ring 211 in Grand Rapids, Michigan), Rachel did a demo on her "Words of Wisdom" book test. I asked Rachel for permission to modify the effect- she agreed. Without giving away the secret, the trick uses four colored bookmarkers which I modified to be on four "themes" taken from the book of John. Then I used a Book of John (available at your local Christian bookstore or online)- e.g.- just the Gospel of John taken from the Bible- and used that instead for the "Words of Wisdom" book test sold by Rachel. The trick only costs $10 and is available from the WildColombini Magic web site. I think my original trick came with a paperback dollar store version of Ben Hur- so I redid the book markers and substituted the Gospel of John for Ben Hur. It will take you quite awhile to redo the trick- it probably took me about two hours in preparing the various markers for the Gospel of John before printing them up on my computer. But well worth the effort. I think I have only performed the trick one time so far- several years ago at the FCMWM Chapter meeting in Wyoming, Michigan (that group I believe now is disbanded, I am not sure). But basically, a person can freely turn to ANY page in the Book of John and you will know what the first phrase is on that page... WildColombini Magic is running a special right now- you can get a boatload of effects for a one small special price. Pretty clever trick in my view.

Thanks MagicBus
I have checked out the trick and am wondering if it can be altered to look at more than just one book of the bible, say the four gospels, or genesis and exodus? Thanks for you help Brad |

The answer is YES, but it will take A LOT of work on your part to get the bookmarks ready (and very good vision to do the trick). I think the "Ben Hur" book that comes with the trick is about 110 pages or so (abridged version)- so if you get over 100 pages, it requires much work to redo everything. Obviously, the trick (which is well worth the $10) comes all set up and ready to go custom made for the book you receive with it. But if you subsitute to another book of your own chosing, you have to redo all the stuff that WildColombini Magic already took the time to do for the book you receive that comes with the trick. So I limited it to a Gospel of John which if I recall was still over 30 pages in the version I used and still took me a ton of time to prepare. If you get the trick, you'll see what I mean, then you can determine how many pages you want to prepare for- it's up to you.

P.S.: It helps greatly if custom making this effect for the book of your own chosing if you have access to a good computer and color printer.

Roger, I have Mark Mason's A Word in a Million Book Test - Easiest one in the world to do. I ordered two of them. One I have in a Harry Potter Hardback book for secular audiences and one in a Bible.
In my opinion, one of the best in the world and it doesn't kill your wallet. Mike

Sorry should have paid attention. Teacher Brad, you asked the question - sorry I redirected it to Roger but it really is a great book test and so, so easy to do enabling you to just concentrate on your presentation.

Revmike
Do you happen to remember where you ordered the books from?? |

It is not a book, it is a gimmick you put in any book, that is what makes it so nice. Just go to Mark Mason's JB Magic Website or look on some of the other major dealers for it. Most carried it.

There actually was a Bible created for a book test...I believe it was Al Koran's. I've seen one for sale, but only one.

I've always used thew Hoy Book Test for the Bible, either using 2 borrowed Bibles or a Bible and a Hymnal from whichever church I was performing at (and the hymnal served for the page number to look up in Bible)
