If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

From what I read, it's 10 minute phoney video. Where does one go to get that time back?

Yes probably as there are no hostile Canadians.

Seems like a good place to share my two Canadian stories:
1. My wife and I were visiting Toronto, a city we weren't very familiar with. We were outside a subway station, trying to figure out the best way to get somewhere. A young couple apparently saw our confusion and told us where to go: take the train to so and so station, then transfer to so and so. A few minutes later, as we were waiting on the platform, the same couple came running towards us and explained, out of breath: "Whew... sorry... so glad we caught you. I forgot to tell you, you'll need transfers to get from one train to the other. Here, we got them for you... " 2. At the end of the same trip, we were about to take the train back to our car to drive back to Buffalo, where my wife was from. I realized I was short of the train fare by ten cents. The idea of going to an ATM machine to get $20 Canadian just to have a dime seemed ridiculous to me -- I'd end up with $19.90 Canadian that I would unlikely ever need (at least not for a while). And besides, I was a grad student at the time, so $19.90 was real money. And moreover, given our prior experience with the folks at the subway, I figured it wouldn't take long to find a kind soul. We were in a busy mall, so I figured I'd be able to bum a dime off someone. I walked up to a young friendly looking guy and explained all this. He listened patiently, and when I asked him for a dime, he said, "Sorry, no. I don't like Americans." So there it is... quite a personality range those Canadians have. (As an epilogue, I was unable to rely solely on charity to raise $.10. Fortunately I had a deck of cards on me at the time. I began and ended my phenomenally successful busking career, more than quadrupling my revenue goals by earning something like $.45 from an amused onlooker.) |
