Your mental epic is a quite an effect. What do you plan to come out with next?

Glad you enjoyed Killer Epic. It is a great routine, and one which I used for many years on the cruise ships. Our other release for stage, The Teleportation Device, has also been a big hit for us, and is one of the strongest versions available of bill to lemon/bill to egg.
Our next project should be out by October. In cahoots with our friends at Hocus Pocus Magic once again, the School for Scoundrels is putting out "The Trade Show Shell Game." This is a beautiful set of hand-painted plastic walnut shells, each shell 3" deep, 8" long, and 6" wide. The solid pea will be 2" in diameter. The routine is designed to draw a crowd to the booth, bedazzle them with some amazing transpositions with the pea, and then produce from underneath the shells either a product, or a giveaway premium. The shells are done, and they are beautiful. I will try to upload a photo of them here soon. We will also be putting out the Billy McComb Table before the end of the year. This is an unbelievably practical niteclub table for the performer who travels by plane. The cruise ship and corporate show worker will love this. It is based on an ingenious design by McComb, which he originated for his wife June Merlin in the 1950's. I had one made by Lynetta Welch about eight years ago, and have loved it. The new table we are putting out is manufactured for us by master craftsman Chris Reeseman of Encore Magic. You will be amazed by the beauty, practicality, and durability of this table. We have recently started selling closeup mats that are reversible to use for dice-stacking. These are great, and will be part of the dice-stacking set we will be putting out next year. This will include Chef Anton's amazing routine on DVD, with the dice cup, dice and crooked dice-stack (When the spectator tries to stack the dice, they end up stacked balanced on their corners). The finale load is a glass of liquid that fills the dice cup. The book and video on the shell game is the main other project in the works, and we are hoping to get it done by early next year. |

Whit
I've really enjoyed your previous writings, and your upcoming projects sound exciting as well. However- any chance we'll someday see a big book? "Whit Hayden: My Life in Magic"? We're lucky to have you here at the Café, but have you ever wanted to give your writings a more permenant form? Also(and this goes out to all) Anyone have a copy of "Whit Haydn: Fast and Loose" they're delusional enough to sell? I know much of this material has been reprinted(Chicago Opener) but not all. ("Deja-Vu" for instance,I've always wondered what that was). Anyone crazy enough? |

JEEWHIZZZ!
Your Trade Show Shells will be 3" deep, 8" long, and 6" wide. The solid pea will be 2" in diameter!!!!! I am looking forward to learn the manipulation of these!!! I mean, how can you pinch a 2" pea??? (obviously you don't!) I am sure I will be the first to be bedazzled with the transpositions with the pea, and then the production from underneath the shells (of either a product, or a giveaway premium - which is simply a GREAT idea!). I cannot wait! Ronnie Lemieux Montreal Canada

Reminds me of those giant shells Frank Garcia had. Are they similar?

The hard part was finding walnuts big enough for the model.
Is that a photo of you beating a dead horse, Pete? |

"The hard part was finding walnuts big enough for the model" You're joking, right Whit? I've never heard of walnuts getting that big, my father-in-law has acres of walnut trees on his ranch. By the way, you might get a kick out of this interactive shell game: Play The Three Shell game with Bush Also, quite a bit of information on The Three Shell Game is listed here: Three Shell Game Info

Yah, was in Mexico on a photo shoot and we found the skeleton on a fence, turned out to be a horse. Had to take a photo.
Another time we found a crashed plane and took pictures of each other crawling out of the wreckage. Got to find those negatives.
