Hi everyone,

I don't know if anyone has had similar experiences but I am living in Australia and find that trying to buy stuff from magic shops is really expensive.

I went into a shop to but a TT the other day as I had no experience and the shops refused to sell it to me unless I bought a book and had a "fitting" to make sure I got the right one. $30.00 in all. I know I can pick up a TT for $7.00 Australian.

It seems a shame that stores seem to charge so much and be a bit funny about selling it. I understand they have their overheads but even a packet of standard bikes will set you back $10.00 when you can buy a bulk pack from costco for $20. Is it different in other countries or is this a common theme?

I live in England and Bicycles are a nightmare nobody sells them so I have to get all mine online and they can get expensive if not bought in bulk!

I've never thought about how lucky I am to live state side. I can just drive to a few different shops whenever I need something and I have many more choices for on-line shops.

Shops like this my friend burn you once, but they can never burn you twice, and you learned your lesson.

Try http://www.themagicshop.com.au , they don't have everything you might want, but if they do have what you want, their prices are good and competitive compared to other shops in Australia.
I usually buy the majority of my purchases from mjm magic in the US, they are great.
hope this helps

Taylors Magic Shop is my standard place of purchase these days and if I was to hazard a guess of the magic shop you might be refering to, I would be guessing it was Bernards in Melbourne? I have heard some odd storys about their thumb tip sales. They probably did you a good service if they insisted on a fitting since peoples hands and thumbs very in shapes in sizes and thumb tips come in diffreant sizes for that very reason, but not selling the tip without the booklet seemed a little odd unless they thought you was new to magic.

Taylors Magic shop is based in Sydney and they do online sale via their web site http://www.taylorsmagicshop.com and sell Bikes in bulk at reasonable price.

I'm also from Melbourne, Australia. I bought my TT and other materials from http://www.mrtricks.com.au, although I think Graham, the owner, sells online only. I was very happy with the service

Thanks for all of the advise everyone, I have some new places to have a look at. Yes Aus I wasn't going to name any names but you were correct. It sucks because they have a lot of stuff and they are easy to get to but everything is overpriced. A shame really they are all really friendly in there.
