Hi, my name is Nicholas (Nick) Nakao. I have been doing magic since the mid to late 80’s. It all started when I was about 6 or 7 years old. I remember my Uncle, Yosh Toriumi, showing me a trick of his called "Jumpin' Jack." My uncle would place four cards in a small envelope. He would then pull out a Jack and tell me his name was Jumpin' Jack. He would follow by placing Jack in the middle of the cards that were inside the envelope. As soon as my Uncle said, "Jumpin' Jack, jump out", the Jack would magically fly out of the envelope, into the air, without any movement or help from my Uncle. From that point on, I was "hooked!"
I've been passionate about magic & music my whole life, and the more I learn about both, the more I love them! As a teenager, in the mid 90's, I started DJ'ing parties, and many times, I would finish the night with a magic show. Around the same time, I met another big magic influence. His name was Mr. Saxton, a professional magician for more than 30 years. He taught me about the deeper side of magic and the mysterious world of the Art! Before then, I never knew about the various magician societies, the close brotherhood amongst magicians, or the difference between a "trick" and a "true magical experience!" Whether you believe in it or not, magic is real! Magic is the experience and emotions felt when you watch a magic performance. Everyone perceives things differently based on their feelings and own life experiences. Some performances will take you through a story of fantasy and happiness. Others may challenge your knowledge of physics and reality. There is a wide range of different types of magic. -Nick For more information on me, visit my site at http://www.n2illusions.com. Welcome nnakao,
I really like the story about your Uncle. It helps Magicians to realize that any performance can be a lasting memory for someone, especially kids. I also like that you are thinking about Magic as more than just "tricks". -Mary Mowder |
