Hi all,
Can anyone suggest where I might find an alternate handling of Gypsy Curse? I've got the 'original' one and the Card Sharke one and also Marc De Souza's Curse of the Rasta. They're all good but I'm hoping to find another handling. Years ago I was working in a magic shop and an old guy came in with a set of the cards and a typed (on a typewriter!) sheet of instructions. They'd been left to him by a mate who'd passed away and he came in so I could show him how to do the sleights. I showed him how to do the counts etc. and at the time I remember thinking what a brilliant handling it was. I forget how that particular one went now and I have no idea where it came from so hopefully you guys can offer some suggestions. Best Porter |

Derek Dingle has a nice version that was published in Kaufman's "The Complete Works..."
J.C. Wagner's work on this is also great (found in Maxwell's "The Commercial Magic of...") Also, Ron Bauer published "Sudden Death Gypsy Curse." Many versions of this trick. I hope you find what you're looking for. |

In addition, Christian Chelman has a very cool presentation in Capricornian Tales. Gypsy Curse is another classic from the great Peter Kane.

There was also a handling by T. A. Waters on his DVD.
Also in "Small But Deadly" it's described how to instantly/secretly reset in front of people when using it for table hopping/strolling magic in the chapter "Wild Effects and Peter Kane". |

Scotty York also has a version. You can find it on one of his DVDs.

Don't forget Ron Bauer's 'Sudden Death Gypsy Curse. It's a booklet, Number 2 in the Private Studies Series.

I don't know the other handlings BUT this one of the Master himself (Fred Kaps) possibly takes some beating:

WOW!!! Always a treat to see a Master at work!! What a BEAUTIFUL handling.
And props also to this Master who garnered some pretty large applause during the toughest gig in show biz: Fred Kaps preceded The Beatles on their first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show in Feb. 1964. You have to admit that only a magician of Kaps' skill could accomplish such a formidable task. I have the DVDs of all The Beatles appearances on Sullivan because I love The Beatles, but how COOL to see Fred Kaps wow an audience of crazed people waiting for the Fab Four! Ahimsa, Vlad |

If you can find it, you may also want to check out a small booklet by Peter Kane called the Hungarian Guessing Game.

Yes, I know Paul. I thought I'd mention it, because it was different from the original.

Another version I came across recently is Tony Miller's "The Gypsy Cursed Again...," from his 1982 "Bar Magic" Lecture notes.
