Hi guys,
I am thinking to start magic classes for kids as of jan and looking for any tips as far as obtaining the room for the class on the cheap. I tried local community centre but since I charge for the class they give me the commercial rate - it's not cheap. anybody has done this before or has any pointers? thanks! jb |

Some Recreation Centres would love the opportunity to have a magician come in and teach a magic class. I've done that a few times, years and years ago. You can negotiate your salary, fee for supplies, etc. Just contract them directly.
So, again, don't call them looking to rent a room. Call them offering your services as an instructor. - Donald

Is there a YMCA in your area? They're always looking for new things to add to their schedule

Donald beat me to the punch. yes rec centers local YMCA and even libraries are all great places to hold magic classes
the key is to present the opportunity for them to host a magic class either after school or on a saturday or sunday. you can even tie in to end the X number of weeks of classes with a show open to the public. they advertise it and you perform and get the exposure and if you worked it right you get paid too! of course then there is BOR and sign up sheets for the next magic classes offered which start next month! I have done many of these but every summer I run a 7 week magic camp for the past 15 years and love teaching the kids! good luck. oh and make sure you set the age limits as you want to make sure that you have kids that are roughly the same age so not to have a 5 year old mixed in with a bunch of 10 year olds. also need to make sure you get the right tricks and include them for the kids to keep at the end of the magic classes. this is a huge plus to advertise that they get X dollars amount of magic for only X dollars have fun sam
