From Dorothy Dietrich and Dick Brookz:
Note to select supporters of The Houdni Museum. Anyone with any input please contact us. The Houdini Museum story is now on the NY Times web site and is in the first section of the hard copy NY Times delivered everywhere including a few copies I picked up here in Scranton, PA. There are links to about 5 other pictures in the article as well. Here is the link to New York Times story; http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/1......-course/ The story was a great piece but in several ways did not tell much of the details. Some of this will be in a release we will try to issue in the next 24 hours or so. I am sure at some time in the future someone like the Travel Channel or History Channel will come to us to document this story. There are hundreds of pages online telling parts of the story. We will try to cover how and why the grave site has been in disarray, and therefore encouraging vandalism. This along with well publicized media events on Halloween that brought the wrong kind of attention to the site. It has been neglected, abandoned with no one caring, willing or able to step up to the plate. We now find ourselves the lone "Keeper of the Flame." with the approval of Houdini relatives and the cemetery itself. Go here for one of many youtube videos put up by others, showing the grave and it's condition and comments such as Why doesn't someone up keep those graves? Poor Houdini... Very sad to see that even the local magicians haven't stepped up to take care of things. For all Houdini did for the art of magic .. he deserves much more respect. Why can't the Society Of American Magicians clean up his grave. This is truly sad. Houdini was the president of this society and went around personally cleaning up magicians' graves. I think someone should take better care of that gravesite, jewish or not, looks like crap! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ug29ezgnSV0 Here is a youtube video of the Houdini Commandos, Dorothy Dietrich and Dick Brookz, on one of The Houdini Museum's many visits to clean up the Houdini Grave site. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxVDHqF5EnA MORE DETAILS TO FOLLOW IN THE OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE FROM THE HOUDINI MUSEUM.
