Alain,
Years ago, when I was getting back into magic (and later delving into mentalism), I had the honor of attending one of your lectures at Haines House of Cards in the Cincinnati area. Your lecture was absolutely incredible, and your spoon bending was amazing. (This would have been late 1990s/early 2000s.) One of the things that blew me away was your Nu Wave, which I use in walk-around situations and on stage (with jumbo cards). After seeing your performance, I cannot understand for the life of me why anyone would want to use a manufactured version of this effect. As I was getting back into magic, your insights and effects were very helpful. I am grateful I had the opportunity to study under you, even if for a few hours. Thanks for pushing the art forward, Bobby

Hi Bobby,
Thank you for your all too kind thoughts. But in defense of Max Maven's effect, B'Wave is a very direct method and a great trick for a beginner to buy from a magic dealer, as it is designed to teach the practitioner about subtleties in concealment, minimal blocking, presentation, and finally equivoque. It also gets "a lot from a little." Nu Wave is simply a "professional alternative." But "Nu Wave Reloaded" which was released last year does come with significant enough presentational additions that I felt it was more worthy as an evolution forward (or at least sideways) of Max's brilliant B'Wave effect.
