I'm going the Liverpool match (UK soccer) today with my brother. As well as a few other tricks I'm going to be performing 2 for the first time...
Lit by Dan Hauss & Dan Hauss - going for the Biddle trick vanish at the end Coin Unique by Eddie Gibson - attempting vanishing the coin in specs hand. I've practiced both with the Mrs a lot but not in the real world yet. I'll let you know how I get on.... AA

Good luck! Maybe you can channel the luck Liverpool won't need v. Swansea.

As many say on this forum, "break a thread." I will wish you good fortune. Success in magic, at least for me, comes by practice not luck. LOL. Remember, if the spectators are entertained, you've succeeded, even if it doesn't always work out as perfect as you'd like. Be sure and let us know how it goes.

Wow, thanks for all your words of encouragement, I never expected so many replies!
Well I gave both tricks a go and just about managed to pull them off. Not without incident though... Lit - My nerves must have got the better of me because instead of concealing the match I chewed it up and swallowed it!! Also I messed up my pinky break on the biddle trick vanish so had to repeat it. I'm pretty sure this roused my Brother's suspicion and he worked out that I'd stole the card away. An unexpected positive was that because he thought he knew what was going on it made it even stronger when I said "would you believe me if I said it was in the matchbook?" Great reaction, he definitely didn't see that coming! Coin Unique - I was using the £1/1p version. When I put the penny on his hand he threw it in the air as if to check it was a real coin. Fortunately it landed the same way as I’d put it and nothing was revealed. Other than that small hiccup the trick went perfectly. The method I used was quite risky in the sense that of 'the magic doesn't happen' the trick is non-recoverable (as discussed in this thread http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......m=202&15 ) but it went well, my Brother was convinced that a coin must have jumped out of his hand when he closed it and I caught it!?! Well, I'm glad the tricks came off well enough, even if the football wasn't exactly Match of the Day (and another match was accidentally eaten).

AA - Something that has worked well for me when performing is to start the set with a no brainer, self working trick that can achieve two things: engage the spectators while giving me a chance to catch my breath and relax. There are a lot of tricks out there that can achieve this goal.

I'd then planned to do a basic signed card transposition using DLs but due to time constraints (his train was late!) I went straight in to Lit. I don't think I was "warmed up and relaxed" to try a new trick but had to give it a go as I'd been looking forward to it all week. All good learning experience I suppose!! AA

Just a thought. Something I have found useful when putting a coin in someone's hand is to use my other hand to "help" them close their hand around the coin.
