My first post here:)
So I would like to know how to end my manipulation act with a surprise effect. I use cards, silk, maybe I will add vanishing candle so how should I end my routine? |

Hello Suren and welcome to the Magic Café,
Since your act seems to be a classic manipulation act, you could produce a giant silk fountain and top it with the production of a card-castle. Good luck Oliver. |

Thanks for reply Oliver. A card castle won't fit my act well. Can you give me a video of that giant silk production? Never saw something like that.

He mentioned giant "silk fountain". Do a search on Youtube. And if you like idea, do a search for "silk fountain" at magic shops.

Is this it? If so I don't really like it. I'm looking for something like snowstorm. |

If you are looking for a snowstorm finale, then what you can do is end with card manipulations. As you wind down your card segment, do the diminishing cards. When you get to the smallest packet, take a fan and wave it at the small packet and produce the snow. You end with your hands empty as the music crescendos. Face the audience full front and take your bow.
Your music is the key. If you can find one that builds as you produce the snow, you will get a nice round of applause. |

A pretty good idea, I might think on this one. I'm ending my routine with cards from silk, then I produce a fan without silk after that I can go into snowstorm. Right now I can't decide how to end. Please someone give me ideas. I am ending with one handed fan in my right hand and a silk in left. Any finals?
Thanks a lot! |

You can put it in a hat and steal a snowstorm. You can take one card and tear it up. You take the fan and fan the snowstorm finale.

Get a Fan to Hat trick. This enables you to produce a jumbo fan then turn it into a top hat. Very powerful.

You might want to check back at the discussion in this forum from February 2011
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=10 It also addressed the finale of a manipulation act. In general, if you think about the classic manipulation acts of the past and present, most ended with a spectacular production or vanish. Cardini produced increasingly large pipes at the end of his act. Channing Pollock vanished a birdcage. Since you use silks, some kind of blendo effect might be good, or the production of a 6-foot art silk or a long silk streamer. But the apparatus you produce the silk finale from should be small compared to the silk itself, so that it looks like the silk or streamer could not possibly have been hidden in the box or tube. I always liked the self-opening card castle put out by Tricks Ltd. It is no longer available, but if you can find a used one, it might be worth it. It comes basically looking like a very large playing card and opens automatically into a large castle. No pulling it; it opens by itself. I changed the outside appearance from a large playing card to a newspaper. A few (only 6 or 7) cards are produced at the end of the act and dropped one by one into the folded newspaper. The folded paper is opened and a large card castle instantly appears. You don't mention which objects--cards, silks or candles--are used for the final effect at the end of your routine. That might influence (but not necessarily dictate) what you choose for your finale. ----- Amado "Sonny" Narvaez

Thanks. For the final part I do cards from silk. I use the silk only to produce the cards from it.

I completely agree with Anatole's statement. He's right by saying that the objects used for the final effect not necessarily dictate how to climax your act. Look at Topas sunglasses, magic wands, cards and bells manipulation act. He ends it with the climax by making appear an electric guitar.

Finish perfect manipulation, bow and walk off. Use music to signal finish.

Card castle is a choice! The one that Peter Marvey used in his finale in manipulation act!

I recommend a brother John ham man fantasy for the ending. basically where you take 2 fans of cards, one in each hand and you make them grow. There is an explanation of this on Jeff McBride's Manipulation without Tears. You can buy the gimmicks from http://www.yourmagic.com or http://www.mcbridemagic.com
Good luck |

I would be a little careful about ending any magic act with a snowstorm effect. Some venues might not care for having the stage area littered with confetti-sized bits of paper, especially if other acts come out on the stage after a snowstorm finale.

I don't think that it will be problem. I will do this for TV and the most important thing there is the quality of show.
