I like to use audio be it music or sound effects, but at the minute I make looped tracks which are longer than I need for each skit, and signal someone offstage when I need the next track to be played.
I´d love a little bit of kit like an mp3 player (2 gig or larger storage would be ideal) so that I could cue the music myself from a remote control. I´d just have to plug in a jack to the house sound system and I´d be ready. Does anyone know of anything like this that wont cost an arm and a leg?

I use an Iomega ScreenPlay TV Link which uses a USB flash drive plugged into it.
Although it has a video interface, I find it's straightforward enough to run blind. I set up a playlist on the USB stick which autoplays when I start the device. Then all I need do is pause and skip to the next track as required using the remote control. I'm sure there are other remote control media players with similar features. |

If you use an iPod then check this site: http://www.buyijet.com/index.php/ As used by Justin Tranz from his pocket usually.

When I don't have someone I trust to do my music, I use a remote set up I got from Keith Rubrow. (I can't remember the link, right now, but if you Google "keith rubrow USB remote" it will probably come up.)
It is a small receiver that plugs into my laptop via USB and a small remote with six buttons that I wear on my belt. It uses Winamp as it's player, which is free. Not counting the laptop, it was about $75. I prefered that setup to some of the IPod choices, simply because it is really easy for an Ipod to "walk away" particularly during those post-proms where there tends to be a lot of people coming in and out before the show. The best set up, I've always heard, is the MP3Tech put out by Kerry Pollack, but it is quite a bit more expensive.

I use a stage manager who is rehearsed and knows what to do. That allows me to be focused on hypnosis and the audience I think nothing looks worse than someone playing around with their own stuff - but - that's just me.
