What is the name of the effect where 4 half dollars go from one hand to the other, one at a time, with no other props used?
Thanks Jim |

I seem to recall Michael Ammar doing a version of this and that the name of the effect may have incorporated the word "Shadow" in it. A version of this may also be included in the Stars of Magic book. Not sure though --memory is foggy on this.

Shadow Coins by Ammar is a version of Chink-a-Chink.
Are you referring to a coins across with only 4 coins (no extras, ['s , etc)? Winged Silver is not only 4 coins, Super clean uses a [... Deep Backclip Coins Across by David Roth uses only 4 coins...there are others |

Paul H.'s P.D.Q. Coins across Uses only uses 4 coins! And cuts down on the moves!

I certainly goofed, "Winged Silver" is NOT just four coins. Which is probably why I use, as David Neighbor's mentioned, Paul Harris' "P.D.Q. Coins Across".
What can I say...I'm gettin' old!

Maybe Han Ping Chien? There are others using xtra coins. Does no xtra props mean no extra coins or no gaffs only? Standing or at a table? Maybe if you give more details then everyone can help you find the routine you're looking for.

Han Ching Pen? Isn't that a sleight rather than a coin routine?

Yes and no. It could be part of a routine or could be used in every phase of it. He's asking for "the effect" where coins go from one hand to the other. It's a pretty vague question. That's why I ask for clarification.

This was done standing at a small table. All I saw was four coins, I don't know if there were any gaffs or gimmicks. I assume the routine had to use at least one sh*ll, but I didn't catch it if it did. The performer had 4 half dollars in his left hand. He made a throwing motion to the right hand, opened it, and dropped a half dollar on the table. He then dropped 3 coins on the table from his left hand. He repeated this until his left hand was empty, and all 4 coins were poured from his right hand.

Perhaps it was "Flying Eagles"? Paul Diamond has a version using 3 fifty cents and 3 english pennies. I believe it's also on Michael Ammar's Easy to Master Money Miracles using quarters.

Paul Harris' "P.D.Q. Coins Across"...Four (and only four) coins are tossed from right hand to left hand (or vice versa) and travel one at a time to the opposite hand. The original receiving hand never opens until the last coin has traveled across.

From your description my guess is this, at about 2:30
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMvwd_7iXGg I'm sure it's in Bobo, but don't know the name off hand. It's basic, but one that I use. You only need a CP or TP and that something xtra that is not gimmicked. I'm sure most of you learned this when you started magic. If it involved coins of different sizes then it could have been Flying Eagles. |
