Hey all,
I just put up a new episode of The Study. In this one I give an update on what all has been going on with me, I discuss performing under pressure, have two book reviews of older books you may have missed, my highlights from Mindvention, an interview with Jamie Salinas, who runs a seance in Houston and short story about a wendigo hunter, that unfortunantly, is true. I hope you enjoy. You can listen here: http://www.paulprater.com/paulprater1_009.11 |

I don't know why I have never listened before. This is fantastic, thank you Paul. I would recommend everyone head over to Mr. Prater's site and download these podcasts. In such a specialty, niche area as Bizarre Magic, we are lucky that someone has invested their time, and energy, on creating something like this and sharing it. Oh, and I wish I had a Southern accent, they sound so cool.

Thanks to everyone for your comments. The Southern accent always used to bother me until I learned to embrace it. I performed at Mindvention a year ago and one of the German performers (Jan Forster, a great guy) said that the accent went perfect with the story I was telling. The funny thing is that I have worked at trying to NOT have too much of a Southern accent and I don't think it is particularly strong. Then again, I watch the American Hoggers show on A&E and wonder why they need to subtitle the father. I can understand him perfectly. He sounds like some of my neighbors and family!

I like the idea for a routine around the Wendigo myth. I studied some First Nations myth when I was at University, and an interesting addition to the Wendigo story is that a human who had been transformed would exhibit the peculiar property of their back becoming encased in ice. Therefore, if you encountered someone in the woods when hunting, who seemed to be in distress, and they walked backwards not wanting to display themselves, it could be a wendigo.

Thanks Paul. What is wrong with a southern accent? Is that not what y'ALL aspire to?
