Hello,
I am looking for a dealer who sells a good wallet for the trick card to wallet, but the wallet should not be made out of leather for ethical reasons. And the performance should be not to difficult. The Mullica Wallet interested me, but it is made from leather. Has anybody an idea? Thank you in advance Daniel |

We can make a custom wallet for you out of nylon or fake leather or whatever.
You can PM me if you like. Probably won't be cheap to make just 'a wallet', but we can do it.

I've seen a few vinyl trick wallets on Ebay.
How long they will last is another story (that goes for most other magic props manufactured in China). Then again, if I was that worried about ethics myself, that's probably the last country on this planet I'd buy anything from!

I had a Balducci made of vinyl, many years ago. It didn't last long.
I hate to see leather go to waste. After all, someone is going to eat the animal, anyway. Tasty! |

Or simply buy "Any Signed Card to Any Spectators Wallet" and use what you already have. It is inexpensive ($40.00) and will probably suit your needs.

When I took agriculture classes, we learned that some of the ingredients in make-up come from animal entrails. I have to hold back the laughter when a woman is wearing make-up, but says she won't wear leather. Add to that the fact that many personal care products are still tested on animals. |

On the Arizona Card Expert DVD, there's a routine that ends up with a card in a normal 3-fold nylon wallet, much like the one currently in my pocket. It does not have the same impossible conditions as the Mullica setup, but the end point is a card impossibly in a plastic card holder (like we stick credit cards and photos and driver's licenses in). It does involve p***ing the card, though.
Overall, the performance aspect of this video is only so-so. Steve Ehlers knows what he's doing and does it well, but the Magic Makers studio with two blondes in low-cut dresses just seems to make it hard for him to put any personality into his demonstrations. I think that in person I'd love what he does. On camera, it just leaves me sort of cold. But there's gold on that disk if you can get past the lack of connection on the demos. Pretty good explanations, too. Any decent tailor or seamstress can probably make you a nylon wallet to your specifications, but you have only yourself to blame if you don't specify right. You'd probably have to supply the material, though. The hardest part might be making a nice custom piece of sewing look like a mass-produced cheap product from overseas. I believe I do understand your ethical considerations, though. I used to be a vegetarian and would not wear leather. In that case, it isn't a matter of saying no animal has to suffer because of me, it is saying that I am not going to be the cause of any animal's death if I have a feasible alternative. And I don't wear cosmetics and I refuse to think that any leather is going into a landfill just as a result of my using a nylon wallet. My beliefs have changed a lot since then, but I still totally respect those who do feel that way. -Patrick |
