I love the convincing control, but like the pass, I didn't want to ruin the illusion by shuffling the deck straight after. With the standard convincing control the selection is on the bottom, so I set about coming up with a version which sent the selection to the top and the audience would still apparently see "their" selection out-jogged in the deck, I think the Top Con Control achieves this perfectly! If you don't want to use this as a control, it can be used in an ambitious card routine, I use it that way often. Imagine cutting the deck so they have "their" card out-jogged and you hold the other half, can you see how far of the game you are, they push in "their" card, they now look through their half and it has vanished etc etc! Hello,
This was the first time I have been on the full 52 chanel and what a great show to watch. I ended up watching 4 shows one after the other and will watch all the others tomorrow. The top con control is very good and I have been using this after learning it off one of Garys previous dvds, I have baffled other magicians at the club with this control. What really impressed me on this show was how David handled the few people who saw him 'flash' during the weeks previous show whilst doing a trick, you really need to watch it as it is funny and I would have done the same thing. A great show David and some really good special deals, I will buy Cameron Frances Snapped, really good. Ben

Hey, Ben, thanks for the kind words! Snapped is one of my favorite "early" DVDs (I say early but it only came out three and a half years ago. However, in magic product years that's about 15 years).

Heh! I was referring in general to controls that are convincing, not The Convincing Control. The latter is part of the former...but not the only one. LOL! I understand now many thanks! I came up with the name Top Con due to the move being based on the Convincing Control and the card ending up on the top, I couldn't think of a better name at the time! I love Cameron Francis' Snapped, and the Dave Forrest routine on this weeks show using the gimmicks supplied is brilliant to say the least, if you don't already have this then you should do yourselves a favour and buy it, you won't be disappointed, I promise. What I didn't show on the clip was something I often do at gigs, I get the first laugh when I introduce the sign (I use a smaller sign than the one shown), when I'm just about to leave the table I ask someone to pass me the sign, it's then they realise it's now a professionally produced sign with my details on. Bold yes, ballsy definitely, but fail safe as I use a method which guarantees you will not get busted, an idea I teach in my lecture. I use the same technique to switch a standard cigarette lighter for one of those jumbo lighters you can now purchase, or an ordinary coin for a jumbo coin, all without getting caught. Of course, you're not just restricted to using your contact details, anything could appear on the sign! My latest sign has my QR code on it, you'd be surprised by how many spectators who store my details on their phones ;-) Please PM me for details. Gary Jones. Click here to view attached image.

The Top Con requires no finger breaks or any 'real' moves of any kind, it's as self-working as it gets, not bad considering it achieves the same as the Pass! I have developed a number of routines around the move due to the fact the audience believe that the selection is still in view when it's really on top! If you cut the deck and leave the bottom half with the "selection" apparently outjogged on the table (or in the spectator's hand if strolling) and you take the upper half (with the selection on top unbeknown by the spectators) you're now in this fantastic situation where they will swear blind that they have the selection, just think of all the possibilities and routes you can now take!
