Please pray for one of my other friends. He had to go to the hospital tonight for some crazy injuries. This is a tiny bit graphic.
There was this all nighter at my church tonight for all the guys. Anytime we get a chance to play Capture the Flag there, we do it (it's 61/2 acres so we play till 3 in the morning most of the time). Well tonights game ended about 4/12 hours early. There is usually only 12-14 people playing so the groups are small. Well tonight EVERYONE wanted to play which gave us about 50 kids to seperate and contain. My friends and I being the oldest were pretty much put in charge to make sure no one broke any rules (vandalism, etc.) About 20 minutes into play one of the kids was injured. It was one of my friends who came to play. He is 14. He was on top of a roof and tried to jump from one roof to another. One of my other friends saw him up there and told him to get down. So he decided he would go to the other roof (no one knows why). Now to do this he had to jump up about 8 inches and clear about an 8 foot gap. NOT a god idea. He ran and jumped, slammed into the corner of the roof and tried to hold on. He grabbed the rain gutter but it broke. His legs smashed through a window and he lost his grip, falling backwards about 12 feet onto the cement. From what I heard he yelled out "I can't feel my legs!" He stayed in one spot for about 10 seconds then got up and walked away. I found out someone was injured so I ran over to see what was going on. All I heard was that some kid ran into a curb and tripped. Well we got him into a bathroom and the whole story came out. When we get into the bathroom he tells us "my sock is wet....." We look at his leg and oh my gosh..the worst thing I have seen in person. He had a huge gash on his leg. About 3 inches long, 2 inches wide and an inch and a half deep. You could see things in his leg that are never supposed to be seen! (apologies for the graphicness). His leg was completely covered in blood. His arm was also broke. I can't even describe how bad it was (thankfully not a compound fracture..but close). We had our youth pastor come over. He called his mom and she came to take him to the hospital. I just got home about a half hour ago and don't have anymore details. He is in good condition considering those 2 injuries but he did land on his back and no one knows if any injuries happened there. Thanks for everything and I apologize again for the graphic descriptions. Chris |

I hope he recovers quickly, and without any permanent injury to his back. (Trust me I know here.)

Alright guys (and gals )
I just found out how he is doign today. He is in a splint for his wrist (standard thing until swelling goes down so they can put on a normal cast). He has a total of 22 stitches for the big gash on his leg. There was also a second cut on the back of his leg close to behind his knee (we didn't even see that one on Friday night) and he also had a small cut on his neck. Nothing wrong with his back and the doctors said he is real lucky to have not sliced an artery (spelling?). He is taking it easy now. Tough lesson to learn for him, especially after he was told to get off the roof. Chris |
