I actually listened to every link here all the way through!
Afraid the irony of heavy metal is too unsubtle for me; Surprisingly, I thought Carrie's link had a very decent lyric and was well sung; Chessman's links a little too traditional and stodgy for me in both versions; Payne's link about the WWI soldiers' truce was a great reminder, if a bit overlong; didn't care for the Elton John, but absolutely drawn in by the visual of the Lennox video (who directed that?) But for traditional songs this is still the best version of the best Christmas song for me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oqpyfa2EmzQ Merry Christmas all.

Ray Charles, Brian Setzer and Sister Hazel all have good Christmas albums. Other than that I've made my own compilation cds for xmas time.

"O Holy NIght" is, generally, my favorite.
A friend posted to me this...rendition of what must be the the worst/funniest version ever, sung by a guy named Steve Mauldin. Its....just....horrendous, but it had me in absolute stitches. It starts a bit slow, but by the end. Don't pass this up! The ending is especially funny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pla......woNRD7NQ
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Generally [sigh], whichever one is stuck in my brain and I can't get rid of. For the past few days it's been "Do you hear what I hear?" I'm ready to put on some Tiny Tim just to get rid of it.

I had a cd that had the Nutcracker Suite on electric guitar which was pretty cool.

It puts the holiday in focus without really rubbing your nose in the fact that some people don't have a lot to celebrate. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9BZDpni56Y I also like "Simply Having A Wonderful Christmas Time." Most "happy" songs are way too strident and shrill. Paul's number doesn't do that and I can stand to listen to it several times. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9BZDpni56Y There's a voice guy named Vic Mignogna who does dubs for anime (Japanese animation). He's also a recording artist who sells his own CDs as well as being a self-avowed "Star Wars" nut. While doing his own Christmas album, he started singing off the top of his head "Vader did you know, your unborn son, didn't die with Panwan." His crew ended up begging him to finish the song which was put as an "unlisted" track on his Christmas album. Here Vic doing "Oh Holy Night." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPOl8yQ_Tu8 And here's "Vader Did You Know." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFrcwcBVVjU
