HI my name is Hugh I perform in and around the Oakland County Michigan. I came over from Scotland 22 years ago today. I always wear a Scottish Kilt when performing and rarely wear a jacket. As you can imagine this can make things a wee bit harder but I seem to get away with it.

Welcome The Kilted Magician,
Without Jacket pockets to work with, it begs the question what does a Scotsman Magician wear under his kilt? I'd rather not hear about the wee bits in your introduction LOL. Your attached image doesn't seem to work but your website has a nice photo. -Mary Mowder |

Thanks Mary, I meant no offence in my intro, I have many answers to what I wear under my kilt but I keep them appropriate to the situation. I normally wear my socks and shoes below my kilt. For want of pockets I use a couple of pouches, which clip onto my belt. I had them made by a local leather worker and they actually work out pretty good. I have lots to learn even although I have been doing restaurant/bar work. I know a few guys that are on here and look forward to learning from others.
One thing the can be a curse or a blessing for me is my accent, it is fairly strong and at first can be hard to understand but hang around a few minutes and you start to get it. Thanks again for the welcome Hugh Ps I will try to fix the picture. |

Hello Kilted and welcome to the Café!
I have a very good friend who is a Scottish magician and he wears his kilt to perform as well. He is also an awesome piper, which combined makes for a very interesting combination! I enjoy hearing him play as much as I enjoy watching him perform his magic! ~Nanci |

Doc, I would love to make that green beer disappear but as we all know beer and magic don't mix. I will however make up for it after my last gig of the day. Got to bless the wife as she said she will drive me around and pick me up at the end of the night. My drink of choice is Guinness as you know its good for you. Nanci I would love to see your friend someday. Lash thanks hope to see you too sometime. Is anyone going to Abbotts get together this year? I will be going wish I could find a place closer to Colon instead of where I stayed last year in Coldwater.

Little late on this, but welcome! I don't even want to imagine the difficulties performing magic with no pockets and/or jacket option. Also, working in a kilt must be a struggled. You're a brave man!
Best wishes, y. |
